Cada mi\u00e9rcoles, un grupo de aficionados mezclaba su pasi\u00f3n por la rob\u00f3tica con tazas de caf\u00e9 y t\u00e9. Diez a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde registraron la empresa. Sin embargo, Shadow Robot abandon\u00f3 pronto esta senda. &#8220;No \u00e9ramos los \u00fanicos trabajando en dise\u00f1os humanoides. En las mismas fechas, Honda estaba desarrollando su propio robot andante, ASIMO&#8221;, recuerda Rich Walker, director gerente de Shadow Robot.<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"en_contenido\">\n<li>\n<h4><strong>De qui\u00e9n hablamos<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>La b\u00fasqueda de nuevos retos condujo a la empresa al sector que ahora lidera: &#8220;Para diferenciarnos y ofrecer algo de m\u00e1ximo valor, nos retamos a construir una de las partes m\u00e1s complejas y esenciales de la anatom\u00eda humana: la mano&#8221;.<\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"sumario_html derecha\"><a name=\"sumario_1\"><\/a><\/h4>\n<div class=\"sumario__interior\">\n<div class=\"sumario-texto\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.giphy.com\/topMocFrdFhCw.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Veinte a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de su nacimiento, esta empresa brit\u00e1nica mantiene colaboraciones de largo recorrido con varias industrias, desde agencias espaciales como la Nasa hasta Siemens, pasando por distintas universidades. En este \u00faltimo campo, Shadow Robot ha encajado especialmente bien en Espa\u00f1a: Hemos trabajado en varios proyectos con centros prestigiosos como la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, la Universidad de Alicante y la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Cartagena&#8221;, comenta Walker.<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"en_contenido\">\n<li>\n<h4><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"sumario_html derecha\"><a name=\"sumario_5\"><\/a><\/h4>\n<div class=\"sumario__interior\">\n<div class=\"sumario-texto\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/xT1XH3yj7ujmm2h40o\/giphy.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>El lugar de la mano de Shadow est\u00e1 en las tareas repetitivas, sucias o peligrosas que requieren elevada minuciosidad en las acciones de sujecci\u00f3n y manipulaci\u00f3n. &#8220;Aunque puede parecer simple en teor\u00eda, es incre\u00edblemente dif\u00edcil conseguir que un robot coja un objeto y lo sostenga. Y, m\u00e1s a\u00fan, lograr que lo manipule y ejecute tareas orientadas a un objetivo concreto&#8221;.<\/h4>\n<h4>La precisi\u00f3n con que se mueven los dedos de la Dexterous Hand no es moco de pavo. &#8220;Nuestra mano tiene 129 sensores en total y su telemetr\u00eda puede utilizarse para generar nuevos modos de manipular sistemas de control o para lograr una mejor comprensi\u00f3n del entorno&#8221;, explica Walker.<\/h4>\n<h4>En esto, Shadow Robot se distancia tambi\u00e9n de las tendencias que dominan el mercado, trufado de manos rob\u00f3ticas de tipo pinza. &#8220;Conoc\u00edamos las limitaciones que estos modelos ten\u00edan en tareas que requieren un trabajo m\u00e1s intrincado. Adem\u00e1s, no son suficientemente adaptables al manejo de diferentes tipos de objeto&#8221;, se\u00f1ala. Este peque\u00f1o detalle es el responsable de que determinadas industrias a\u00fan se resistan a la incorporaci\u00f3n de robots en sus flujos de trabajo.<\/h4>\n<h4>La extremidad menos humana dise\u00f1ada por la empresa brit\u00e1nica es el\u00a0<em>Modular Grasper<\/em>\u00a0-pinza modular-, que solo tiene tres dedos. &#8220;Es m\u00e1s vers\u00e1til y robusta&#8221;, destaca Walker. Adem\u00e1s, puede incorporar sistemas de visi\u00f3n y sensores t\u00e1ctiles.<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"en_contenido\">\n<li>\n<h4><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 nos interesa?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>La Dexterous Hand ya se est\u00e1 utilizando para automatizar tareas en laboratorios de farma, desmantelamiento nuclear e incluso agricultura. &#8220;Recientemente hemos estado implicados en un proyecto colaborativo para la cosecha automatizada, consistente en recoger las fresas m\u00e1s maduras&#8221;, recuerda Walker. Adem\u00e1s, en el \u00e1mbito culinario, la mano de Shadow tambi\u00e9n alcanza la destreza de la nuestra, replicando platos elaborados tal y como lo har\u00eda un chef humano.<\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"sumario_html derecha\"><a name=\"sumario_4\"><\/a><\/h4>\n<div class=\"sumario__interior\">\n<div class=\"sumario-texto\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/3o7TKKFH3ody7cBFHW\/giphy.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Seg\u00fan la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Rob\u00f3tica, en 2020 se instalar\u00e1n m\u00e1s de 1,7 millones de robots en las f\u00e1bricas del mundo entero.
