Este dispositivo puede integrarse en sistemas energ\u00e9ticos de varios niveles para ayudar al proceso de descarbonizaci\u00f3n de industrias, comunidades y plantas de generaci\u00f3n de electricidad o calor.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Para que esto suceda, sin embargo, todav\u00eda hay que superar una serie de obst\u00e1culos en t\u00e9rminos de rentabilidad en esta tecnolog\u00eda de producci\u00f3n. Si el hidr\u00f3geno en cuesti\u00f3n es \u201cverde\u201d, es decir, obtenido por electr\u00f3lisis del agua alimentada por energ\u00edas renovables, hay que afrontar esencialmente dos retos: la eficiencia del proceso y el grado de pureza del agua en s\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Los sistemas electrol\u00edticos pierden parte de la energ\u00eda en la producci\u00f3n, y s\u00f3lo una fracci\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica es, por as\u00ed decirlo, \u201calmacenada\u201d en mol\u00e9culas de hidr\u00f3geno. Esto da lugar a un alto coste de producci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, la electr\u00f3lisis convencional requiere agua altamente purificada para prevenir la incrustaci\u00f3n de los componentes del sistema.
