Los expertos consideran que este pol\u00edmero podr\u00eda ser utilizado en el futuro como un material para el sector de la construcci\u00f3n, espec\u00edficamente para crear estructuras, realizar recubrimientos, ejecutar reparaciones, etc.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan el comunicado del MIT, el nuevo material es capaz de convertir los gases de efecto invernadero en un material basado en carbono que es capaz de reforzarse a s\u00ed mismo. El aspecto del material es similar a un gel, y el proceso qu\u00edmico que involucra la autoreparaci\u00f3n es similar a la manera en que las plantas incorporan CO2 en sus tejidos.<\/p>\n<div id=\"sc-ava-2398128\">\u00a0Michael Strano, profesor del MIT y coautor del estudio, detall\u00f3 la forma en que este nuevo material podr\u00eda ser utilizado, como por ejemplo, construir una matriz o sistema liviano para estructuras, que posteriormente podr\u00edan endurecerse s\u00f3lo con la intervenci\u00f3n del aire y la luz del Sol. Esto, a su vez, permitir\u00eda un mayor ahorro de energ\u00eda y reducir\u00eda dr\u00e1sticamente los costos de transporte de material para construcci\u00f3n.<\/div>\n<p>Uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s importantes descritos por Strano con respecto a este material es que su desarrollo, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de evitar el uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles, se alimenta de CO2 presente en el aire, lo que genera beneficios enormes para el medio ambiente y contribuye a la mejora del cambio clim\u00e1tico. En este sentido, el especialista asegura:<\/p>\n<p>Para desarrollar este material, los investigadores usaron una matriz de gel formada por glucosa y por un pol\u00edmero a base de metacrilamida de aminopropilo (APMA). Adem\u00e1s, en el desarrollo intervinieron cloroplastos y un tipo de glucosa conocida como glucosa oxidasa.
