{"id":12477,"date":"2018-10-31T09:34:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T15:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=12477"},"modified":"2018-10-31T09:34:35","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T15:34:35","slug":"una-misma-celula-solar-produce-dos-clases-de-energias-renovables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/energias-alternas\/una-misma-celula-solar-produce-dos-clases-de-energias-renovables\/","title":{"rendered":"Una misma c\u00e9lula solar produce dos clases de energ\u00edas renovables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un nuevo dispositivo de fotos\u00edntesis artificial denominado HEPV (c\u00e9lula fotoel\u00e9ctrica y voltaica h\u00edbrida) convierte luz solar y agua en no una, sino dos tipos de energ\u00eda: hidr\u00f3geno y electricidad.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>En la b\u00fasqueda de alternativas renovables abundantes a los combustibles f\u00f3siles, los cient\u00edficos han tratado de recolectar la energ\u00eda del sol a trav\u00e9s de la \u201cdivisi\u00f3n del agua\u201d, una t\u00e9cnica de fotos\u00edntesis artificial que utiliza la luz solar para generar combustible de hidr\u00f3geno a partir del agua.<\/p>\n<p>Pero los dispositivos de divisi\u00f3n de agua a\u00fan no han alcanzado su potencial porque todav\u00eda no hay un dise\u00f1o para materiales con la combinaci\u00f3n correcta de propiedades \u00f3pticas, electr\u00f3nicas y qu\u00edmicas necesarias para que funcionen de manera eficiente.<\/p>\n<p>Para evitar las limitaciones del sistema convencional de divisi\u00f3n del agua, investigadores de Berkeley lab agregaron un contacto el\u00e9ctrico adicional a la superficie posterior del componente de silicio, dando como resultado un dispositivo HPEV con dos contactos en la parte posterior en lugar de solo uno. La salida posterior adicional permitir\u00eda que la corriente se divida en dos, de modo que una parte de la corriente contribuya a la generaci\u00f3n de combustibles solares, y el resto se pueda extraer como energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de ejecutar una simulaci\u00f3n para predecir si la HPEC funcionar\u00eda como fue dise\u00f1ada, hicieron un prototipo para probar su teor\u00eda. \u201cY para nuestra sorpresa, funcion\u00f3!\u201d dijo en un comunicado Gideon Segev, autor principal dle estudio. \u201cEn ciencia, nunca est\u00e1s realmente seguro de que todo vaya a funcionar, incluso si las simulaciones de tu computadora dicen que lo har\u00e1n. Fue genial ver nuestros experimentos validar las predicciones de nuestras simulaciones\u201d, coment\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con sus c\u00e1lculos, un generador de hidr\u00f3geno solar convencional basado en una combinaci\u00f3n de silicio y vanadato de bismuto, un material ampliamente estudiado para la divisi\u00f3n de agua solar, generar\u00eda hidr\u00f3geno con una eficiencia solar a hidr\u00f3geno de 6,8 por ciento. En otras palabras, de toda la energ\u00eda solar incidente que golpea la superficie de una c\u00e9lula, el 6,8 por ciento se almacenar\u00e1 en forma de combustible de hidr\u00f3geno, y todo el resto se perder\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p>En contraste, las c\u00e9lulas HPEV recolectan electrones sobrantes que no contribuyen a la generaci\u00f3n de combustible. Estos electrones residuales se usan en cambio para generar energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica, lo que resulta en un aumento dram\u00e1tico en la eficiencia de conversi\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda solar en general, dijo Segev. Por ejemplo, seg\u00fan los mismos c\u00e1lculos, el mismo 6,8 por ciento de la energ\u00eda solar se puede almacenar como combustible de hidr\u00f3geno en una c\u00e9lula HPEV hecha de vanadato de bismuto y silicio, y otro 13,4 por ciento de la energ\u00eda solar se puede convertir en electricidad.
