Por eso, los estragos que el viento produce en el planeta vecino son pr\u00e1cticamente nulos.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Imaginen un riachuelo cuyas aguas viajan a una velocidad baja, pongamos, 5 km\/h. Esa es la velocidad aproximada del paso al andar de un adulto. Por otro lado, imaginen un r\u00edo 120 veces m\u00e1s caudaloso que tambi\u00e9n viaja a 5 km\/h. \u00bfCu\u00e1l de los dos es m\u00e1s destructivo? Creo que la pregunta tiene f\u00e1cil soluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Esto es un paralelismo de lo que ocurre en Marte: la atm\u00f3sfera de la Tierra es 120 veces m\u00e1s densa que la de Marte. \u201cLos vientos de Marte han llegado a alcanzar los 100 km\/h en condiciones de tormentas de polvo. En ellas los procesos din\u00e1micos son 120 veces menos intensos\u201d, declara Jorge Pla-Garc\u00eda, cient\u00edfico del Centro de Astrobiolog\u00eda (CSIC-INTA) que participa en el control de la estaci\u00f3n medioambiental REMS a bordo del Curiosity en Marte.<\/p>\n<p>La clave de esto es la presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica: en la Tierra es de unos 1013,30 hPa mientras que en Marte es de unos 8,45 hPa, de ah\u00ed que el valor de esa relaci\u00f3n sea 120. Esos vientos de 100 km\/h en nuestro planeta pueden causar estragos en ciudades derribando \u00e1rboles y mobiliario urbano. Sin embargo, en Marte esta intensidad ser\u00eda much\u00edsimo menor aunque la velocidad sea la misma. \u201cUn hurac\u00e1n en Marte ser\u00eda una brisa marina en la Tierra\u201d, a\u00f1ade Pla-Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>La escasa intensidad de esos vientos marcianos hace que tan solo afecte a las part\u00edculas m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as a pesar de que en Marte hay menos intensidad gravitatoria.<\/p>\n<p>Las tormentas de polvo que se observan en Marte son posibles porque en el suelo del planeta vecino hay part\u00edculas cuya mayor parte son mucho m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as que los granos de arena de los desiertos terrestres; se parecen m\u00e1s a las part\u00edculas de ceniza o al humo de un cigarrillo y esos vientos marcianos, aunque d\u00e9biles, s\u00ed que son capaces de levantarlas.<\/p>\n<p>A esto se une adem\u00e1s las corrientes de aire caliente que provoca el Sol sobre el suelo marciano, que favorecen estos levantamientos de polvo.<\/p>\n<p>Es por eso que la velocidad de un viento de por s\u00ed no tiene ning\u00fan valor para saber c\u00f3mo interacciona con su entorno. Sin embargo, al conocer la presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica se pueden predecir los efectos que puede provocar.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00bfY qu\u00e9 sucede en Venus?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Si por ejemplo estuvi\u00e9semos en<span>\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Venus\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lasexta.com\/tecnologia-tecnoxplora\/ciencia\/astronomia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venus<\/a>, los vientos ser\u00edan mucho m\u00e1s devastadores que en nuestro planeta ya que la presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica es 92 veces m\u00e1s intensa. All\u00ed, una brisa de 3 \u00f3 4 km\/h equivaldr\u00eda a un aut\u00e9ntico tornado en nuestro planeta.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed que mientras que nuestra atm\u00f3sfera nos parece \u201cnormal\u201d, la de Venus nos aplastar\u00eda sin remisi\u00f3n. Por otro lado, la de Marte se parece m\u00e1s a un vac\u00edo.
