Se trata de un proyecto enfocado a ayudar a personas con deterioro visual degenerativo.<\/p>\n

La\u00a0Universidad Monash\u00a0en Australia est\u00e1 presentando un nuevo modelo de ojo bi\u00f3nico dise\u00f1ado para aquellas personas con trastornos a la visi\u00f3n, que a diferencia de los\u00a0implantes de c\u00e9lulas madres en la retina, incorpora un chip en el cerebro para proveer im\u00e1genes directamente al cerebro de la persona.<\/p>\n

De acuerdo a lo\u00a0se\u00f1alado por Arthur\u00a0Lowery, acad\u00e9mico a cargo del proyecto, el sistema denominado Monash Vision sugiere implantar hasta 11 peque\u00f1os azulejos, cargados con 43 electrodos, en la corteza visual del cerebro. Cada electrodo ser\u00eda capaz de crear un punto de luz similar al de un pixel. Un total de 500 pixeles permitir\u00e1 generar una imagen gracias a un procesador incorporado en unas gafas.

Los primeros voluntarios que se someter\u00e1n a este proceso despertar\u00e1n con una sensaci\u00f3n de visi\u00f3n “como televisi\u00f3n de 1920”, debido a que no alcanza a igualar la cantidad de pixeles que tiene un ojo normal (entre 1 a 2 millones) y que a pesar de trabajar a partir de est\u00edmulos directos al cerebro, s\u00f3lo funcionar\u00e1 con aquellas personas que hayan perdido su vista por una lesi\u00f3n o presenten condiciones degenerativas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
