Y ese es el tiempo que los cient\u00edficos estiman que le queda a sus caracter\u00edsticos anillos.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>De entre las maravillas extraterrestres que pueblan el vasto universo, los anillos de Saturno son una de las que m\u00e1s han cautivado la imaginaci\u00f3n de muchos. Lo que la mayor\u00eda no saben es que ese rasgo distintivo tan peculiar no va a durar para siempre. De hecho, gracias a los datos combinados de las observaciones de las sondas Voyager 1 y 2 y Cassini,<span>\u00a0<\/span>se ha determinado que est\u00e1n desapareciendo a gran velocidad<span>\u00a0<\/span>(o, al menos, a lo que en t\u00e9rminos espaciales es una gran velocidad).<\/p>\n<p>Los caracter\u00edsticos anillos de Saturno podr\u00edan desintegrarse y caer sobre el planeta en menos de 100 millones de a\u00f1os (que no parece muy deprisa, pero lo es si tenemos en cuenta que la edad del planeta es de unos 4.000 millones de a\u00f1os), en un proceso que se conoce como \u201clluvia de anillos\u201d. Los cient\u00edficos estiman que este colosal chaparr\u00f3n de otro mundo ser\u00eda suficiente para llenar una piscina ol\u00edmpica en tan solo media hora.<\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\"><iframe class=\"embed-responsive-item\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mN8o90UbpmE\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/section>\n<div id=\"smartIntxt\" data-smartplay-instance-id=\"0\">Otra cuesti\u00f3n que queda algo m\u00e1s clara gracias a las nuevas investigaciones es la del origen de los anillos de Saturno. Durante mucho tiempo los cient\u00edficos se han preguntado si se formaron al mismo tiempo que el planeta o m\u00e1s adelante, y los recientes hallazgos favorecen esta \u00faltima hip\u00f3tesis. Es poco probable que los anillos tengan m\u00e1s de 100 millones de a\u00f1os, pues es el tiempo que habr\u00eda tardado el anillo C en ser tan fino como es hoy, suponiendo que en sus mejores tiempos fue tan denso como el actual anillo B.<\/div>\n<p>Son varias las teor\u00edas que existen sobre su origen. Entre otras, que los anillos podr\u00edan haberse formado tras la colisi\u00f3n entre una luna de Saturno y un cometa, o entre varias de sus muchas lunas, que dej\u00f3 restos suspendidos que, tras ser capturados por la gravedad del planeta, formaron los anillos.<\/p>\n<p>Son todav\u00eda muchas las inc\u00f3gnitas que quedan por desvelar<span>\u00a0<\/span>sobre este planeta<span>\u00a0<\/span>y su peculiar se\u00f1a de identidad, pero seguro que, mientras tanto, seguir\u00e1 alimentando la imaginaci\u00f3n de muchas generaciones.
