Una de ellas consiste en solidificarlo para convertirlo en carb\u00f3n. Cient\u00edficos han descubierto<span>\u00a0<\/span>una forma de<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>capturar el CO2 de la atm\u00f3sfera y convertirlo en carb\u00f3n<\/strong>. El secuestro del carb\u00f3n tiene como objetivo extraer el di\u00f3xido de carbono de la atm\u00f3sfera para luchar contra el<span>\u00a0<\/span>cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/h6>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h6>Convertir CO2 del aire en carb\u00f3n.<\/h6>\n<h6>En la actualidad, existen dos procedimientos para lograrlo:<\/h6>\n<h6>Conversi\u00f3n de CO2 en l\u00edquido para el almacenamiento subterr\u00e1neo.<\/h6>\n<h6>Requiere la transformaci\u00f3n del<strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>gas a l\u00edquido<\/strong>. Consiste en la compresi\u00f3n y refrigeraci\u00f3n del CO2 para pasarlo a estado l\u00edquido y almacenarlo. A trav\u00e9s de esta t\u00e9cnica se puede capturar en un 30% en las plantas de carb\u00f3n.<\/h6>\n<h6>A pesar que es un m\u00e9todo que se puede implementar en las centrales de carb\u00f3n, tiene como inconveniente<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>sus altos costes y la necesidad de generosos subsidios gubernamentales<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>para su aplicaci\u00f3n.<\/h6>\n<h6>Conversi\u00f3n de CO2 en\u00a0carb\u00f3n s\u00f3lido.<\/h6>\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/convert-CO2-into-solid-coal-620x429.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/convert-CO2-into-solid-coal-620x429.jpg 620w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/convert-CO2-into-solid-coal-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/convert-CO2-into-solid-coal-768x532.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/convert-CO2-into-solid-coal.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/>\u00a9RMIT UNIVERSITY<\/h6>\n<h6>Para lograr la conversi\u00f3n, los investigadores utilizaron un<strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>catalizador de metal l\u00edquido que contiene cerio<\/strong>, excepcionalmente eficiente en la conducci\u00f3n de electricidad.<\/h6>\n<h6>Cuando los investigadores cargaron el\u00e9ctricamente un recipiente con CO2 y el metal l\u00edquido, el di\u00f3xido de carbono comenz\u00f3 a convertirse en<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>peque\u00f1as escamas de carb\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6>Las escamas de carbono s\u00f3lido se separan naturalmente del metal l\u00edquido y caen al fondo del recipiente, permitiendo<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>la producci\u00f3n continua de carbono s\u00f3lido a partir del di\u00f3xido de carbono.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6>El producto final contiene una carga el\u00e9ctrica que se puede usar como<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>supercondensador despu\u00e9s del proceso.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scientists-turn-carbon-dioxide-back-into-coal-620x414.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scientists-turn-carbon-dioxide-back-into-coal-620x414.jpg 620w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scientists-turn-carbon-dioxide-back-into-coal-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scientists-turn-carbon-dioxide-back-into-coal-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Scientists-turn-carbon-dioxide-back-into-coal.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/h6>\n<h6>Investigadores del\u00a0Instituto Real de Tecnolog\u00eda de Melbourne, Australia\u00a0\u00a0 consideran que este es el primer paso hacia un m\u00e9todo econ\u00f3mico para eliminar<strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>el di\u00f3xido de carbono de la atm\u00f3sfera y almacenarlo de forma f\u00e1cil y eficiente en el suelo.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6>Hasta ahora,<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>el CO2 s\u00f3lo puede ser convertido a temperaturas muy altas<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>en part\u00edculas s\u00f3lidas. Esto ha hecho que el sistema sea insostenible por sus elevados costes, pero con los nuevos avances, se puede convertir en una t\u00e9cnica barata.<\/h6>\n<h6><strong>El nuevo prototipo desarrollado\u00a0no requiere grandes inversiones<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>para convertir el di\u00f3xido de carbono en una forma s\u00f3lida.<\/h6>\n<h6>Se basa\u00a0fundamentalmente en las<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>nanopart\u00edculas de cerio met\u00e1lico<\/strong>, que generan una reacci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica que arranca el ox\u00edgeno del di\u00f3xido de carbono a un voltaje peque\u00f1o. La suspensi\u00f3n de las nanopart\u00edculas en forma de aleaci\u00f3n de metal l\u00edquido evita la acumulaci\u00f3n del carbono solidificado sobre el cerio.<\/h6>\n<h6>El uso del<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>galio met\u00e1lico como disolvente<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>permite que todo el proceso se lleve a cabo a temperatura ambiente, dado el punto de fusi\u00f3n notablemente bajo de este elemento.
