Suena futurista, pero es justo lo que acaba de conseguir un equipo de bioingenieros utilizando c\u00e9lulas humanas y ratones que sufr\u00edan de psoriasis, una enfermedad inflamatoria de la piel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores, dirigidos por el profesor Martin Fussenegger en la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica Federal de Z\u00farich,\u00a0publicaron sus resultados en Science. Fussenger y su equipo reprogramaron c\u00e9lulas humanas para detectar las mol\u00e9culas caracter\u00edsticas de la psoriasis (dos\u00a0citocinas) y responder produciendo los f\u00e1rmacos que sirven para tratar esa enfermedad (otro par de citocinas). Al invento le han llamado, sencillamente, \u201cc\u00e9lulas conversoras de citocina\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-img\" src=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/oamommlvteubflup22dn.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Reprogramar las c\u00e9lulas consiste en realidad en equiparlas con dos nuevos tipos de receptores qu\u00edmicos en su superficie. Estos receptores reaccionan cuando se encuentran con dos prote\u00ednas en concreto, el factor de necrosis tumoral (TNF) y la interleucina-22 (IL-22), el sello distintivo de un brote de psoriasis. As\u00ed es como las c\u00e9lulas detectan la psoriasis y producen las mol\u00e9culas antiinflamatorias que la tratan.<\/p>\n<p>Para los ratones del estudio, una sola inyecci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas humanas alteradas mantuvo a raya la psoriasis durante semanas. Las c\u00e9lulas del Fussenegger actuaron como centinelas, siempre vigilantes.
