frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Un grupo de investigadores de la\u00a0Universidad de Illinois\u00a0podr\u00eda haber descubierto\u00a0un revolucionario sistema\u00a0capaz de convertir el agua salada de los oc\u00e9anos en agua pura y potable para consumo humano, utilizando los mismos principios tecnol\u00f3gicos aplicados para la carga de algunas clases de bater\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto, liderado por el profesor\u00a0Kyle Smith\u00a0y presentado en la m\u00e1s reciente edici\u00f3n del\u00a0Journal of the Electrochemical Society, podr\u00eda representar la primera posibilidad de aplicar\u00a0un proceso de desalinizaci\u00f3n a gran escala con bajos costos,\u00a0gracias a las bases de su sistema, inspirado en la arquitectura de las bater\u00edas de iones de sodio:<\/p>\n<p>Estamos desarrollando un dispositivo que\u00a0aprovechar\u00e1 los materiales en la bater\u00edas\u00a0para extraer la sal del agua de mar con la m\u00ednima cantidad de energ\u00eda requerida.<\/p>\n<p>Este proyecto, seg\u00fan\u00a0ubergizmo, podr\u00eda sustituir a la\u00a0\u00f3smosis inversa, el m\u00e9todo m\u00e1s com\u00fan (y costoso) de la actualidad, ya que su funcionamiento ser\u00eda m\u00e1s sencillo y f\u00e1cil de aplicar sobre volumen, al extraer los iones salados del agua de mar aplicando un poco de electricidad.<\/p>\n<p>En los experimentos montados por Smith y su equipo para probar el sistema se encontr\u00f3\u00a0una efectividad de m\u00e1s del 80%\u00a0para purificar las muestras de agua de mar, de modo que resulta alentador el proyecto, aunque le queda un largo camino por recorrer.<\/p>\n<p>Disponer del agua del oc\u00e9anos podr\u00eda ser una soluci\u00f3n a los inminentes problemas
