WhatsApp, propiedad de Facebook, dijo haber detectado una vulnerabilidad en su sistema que permiti\u00f3 que hackers instalaran un software esp\u00eda en algunos tel\u00e9fonos y accedieran as\u00ed a los datos contenidos en los dispositivos. Te recomendamos: WhatsApp ya no servir\u00e1 en estos celulares desde 2019La compa\u00f1\u00eda confirm\u00f3 en un comunicado a la prensa la informaci\u00f3n que unas horas antes hab\u00eda publicado Financial Times e inst\u00f3 a los mil 500 millones de usuarios que tiene en todo el mundo a “actualizar la aplicaci\u00f3n a su \u00faltima versi\u00f3n” y mantener al d\u00eda su sistema operativo como medida de “protecci\u00f3n”. PUBLICIDAD WhatsApp, que fue adquirida por Facebook en 2014, indic\u00f3 que en estos momentos a\u00fan no puede precisar cu\u00e1ntas personas fueron afectadas, pero asegur\u00f3 que las v\u00edctimas fueron elegidas “de forma espec\u00edfica”, de manera que en principio no se tratar\u00eda de un ataque a gran escala. El spyware\u00a0o software esp\u00eda que se instalaba en los tel\u00e9fonos “se asemeja” a la tecnolog\u00eda desarrollada por la empresa de ciberseguridad israel\u00ed NSO Group, lo que llev\u00f3 a WhatsApp a situarla como principal sospechosa detr\u00e1s del programa de espionaje. La vulnerabilidad en el sistema, para la que la empresa sac\u00f3 un parche este mismo lunes, fue detectada hace s\u00f3lo unos d\u00edas y por el momento se desconoce durante cu\u00e1nto tiempo se estuvieron produciendo las actividades de espionaje. \u00bfC\u00f3mo se instalaba el spyware? Los hackers llevaban a cabo una llamada a trav\u00e9s de WhatsApp al tel\u00e9fono a cuyos datos deseaban acceder e, incluso en el caso de que la persona receptora no respondiese a la llamada, un programa de spyware se instalaba en los dispositivos. En muchos casos la llamada desaparec\u00eda posteriormente del historial del aparato, de manera que, si no hab\u00eda visto la llamada entrar en su momento, el usuario afectado no llegar\u00eda a sospechar nada. WhatsApp asegur\u00f3 que nada m\u00e1s conocer que se hab\u00edan producido los ataques, avis\u00f3 a organizaciones de derechos humanos (que se encontraban entre las v\u00edctimas del espionaje), a empresas de ciberseguridad y al Departamento de Justicia de Estados Unidos. Que algunas de las organizaciones afectadas sean plataformas de defensa de los derechos humanos refuerza la hip\u00f3tesis de la involucraci\u00f3n por parte de NSO Group, ya que su software ha sido usado en el pasado para llevar ataques contra este tipo de entidades. NSO Group, que opera de forma opaca y durante muchos a\u00f1os lo hizo en secreto, dise\u00f1a software esp\u00eda para sus clientes, entre los que se encuentran gobiernos de todo el mundo, que lo usan para acceder a dispositivos m\u00f3viles y obtener informaci\u00f3n. El spyware tuvo capacidad para infectar a tel\u00e9fonos con sistema operativo de Apple (iOS) o de Google (Android).\u200b\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
