{"id":1652,"date":"2016-02-22T14:17:30","date_gmt":"2016-02-22T20:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=1652"},"modified":"2016-02-24T10:26:55","modified_gmt":"2016-02-24T16:26:55","slug":"soldar-neuronas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/soldar-neuronas\/","title":{"rendered":"Logran &#8220;soldar&#8221; neuronas entre s\u00ed mediante l\u00e1ser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n ha desarrollado un m\u00e9todo para conectar neuronas usando pulsos de l\u00e1ser ultracortos, una t\u00e9cnica revolucionaria que abre la puerta hacia nuevas oportunidades de investigaci\u00f3n y tratamientos en el \u00e1mbito m\u00e9dico. Las neuronas son las c\u00e9lulas del sistema nervioso responsables de transferir informaci\u00f3n entre el cerebro y el resto del cuerpo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>El grupo de Nir Katchinskiy, de la Universidad de Alberta, en Canad\u00e1, es el primero de la historia en encontrar una forma de unir neuronas y, al hacerlo, ha proporcionado a la comunidad cient\u00edfica una nueva y poderosa herramienta. El cient\u00edfico ten\u00eda en mente una aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica espec\u00edfica cuando inici\u00f3 el proyecto: la posibilidad de reparar un nervio cortado, o m\u00e1s concretamente &#8220;soldar&#8221; ambos extremos.<\/p>\n<p>Katchinskiy puso en contacto entre s\u00ed dos neuronas colocadas en una soluci\u00f3n especial que evita que se peguen. En el punto de contacto entre ambas c\u00e9lulas se lanzaron pulsos de l\u00e1ser de una duraci\u00f3n de femtosegundos (cada pulso ultracorto separado por entre 10 y 15 segundos). Aunque la capa exterior de ambas c\u00e9lulas se vio parcialmente comprometida, el interior de la capa protectora permaneci\u00f3 intacto. Como resultado de ello, las dos c\u00e9lulas establecieron conexiones s\u00f3lidas, formando una membrana com\u00fan en el \u00e1rea seleccionada.<\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de m\u00faltiples experimentos, las c\u00e9lulas permanecieron viables y con una conexi\u00f3n fuerte. Las neuronas tardaron 15 milisegundos en unirse entre s\u00ed, un proceso que habr\u00eda requerido horas de forma natural. La ventaja m\u00e1s grande del descubrimiento es que da a los investigadores un control completo sobre el proceso de conexi\u00f3n celular.<\/p>\n<p>Quiz\u00e1 no se pueda tratar la m\u00e9dula espinal humana con esta nueva t\u00e9cnica, pero nos acerca a ello, tal como matiza Abdul Elezzabi, del equipo de investigaci\u00f3n.
