Afortunadamente est\u00e1n surgiendo alternativas ecol\u00f3gicas con excelentes propiedades.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h6>Coste ambiental del poliestireno.<\/h6>\n<p>Es un material de embalaje de pl\u00e1stico que se usa de forma masiva en todo el mundo para art\u00edculos alimenticios, electr\u00f3nicos, muebles o electrodom\u00e9sticos, entre otros. Destaca por sus<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>propiedades aislantes y protectoras<\/strong>. Sin embargo, una vez usados generan muchos problemas medioambientales.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol%C3%B3gico-620x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-78184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico-620x320.jpg 620w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico-768x396.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico.jpg 1240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Al ser grande y voluminoso, ocupa un espacio importante en los vertederos. Se transporta f\u00e1cilmente, lo que contribuye a la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua. Cuando se rompe, puede ser consumido por los animales<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>causando asfixia y obstrucci\u00f3n intestinal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Para su procesamiento se usan materiales muy t\u00f3xicos. Como no se degrada de forma natural, hay que quemarlo, lo que libera contaminantes a la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores han tratado de crear una alternativa m\u00e1s sustentable, pero no han tenido \u00e9xito en la sustituci\u00f3n de este popular material. Sin embargo, un equipo de la Universidad Estatal de Washington logr\u00f3 crear un material de base vegetal compuesto en un<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>75% de nanocristales de celulosa procedentes de la pulpa de madera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El proceso de producci\u00f3n no requiere el uso de disolventes da\u00f1inos pues se us\u00f3 e<strong>l agua como sustituto.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol%C3%B3gico1-620x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-78185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico1-620x320.jpg 620w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico1-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico1-768x396.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Poliestireno-ecol\u00f3gico1.jpg 1240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Si bien es menos contaminante, implica desaf\u00edos pues cuando el agua se evapora de un material poroso, se generan tensiones capilares inducidas por la presi\u00f3n de deformaci\u00f3n de los poros, lo que causa<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>deformaciones, colapso o agrietamiento<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Para evitar estos problemas, los cient\u00edficos han desarrollado t\u00e9cnicas de secado para mantener la estructura del material. Al nuevo material se le ha a\u00f1adido<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>alcohol polivinilico<\/strong>, un pol\u00edmero que une los cristales de nanocelulosa y permite que las espumas resultantes sean m\u00e1s el\u00e1sticas.<\/p>\n<p>Por lo tanto, mantiene una estructura celular uniforme y tiene<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>excelentes resultados como aislante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>La nanocelulosa tiene un alto potencial como material de aislamiento t\u00e9rmico con alto rendimiento. Puede contribuir al<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>ahorro de energ\u00eda y disminuir el uso de materiales a base de aceite<\/strong>. Dispone de muchas propiedades y se pueden transferir a escala masiva.<\/p>\n<p>Existen otros sustitutos naturales a los materiales sint\u00e9ticos, como las lanas vegetales y productos de c\u00e1\u00f1amo, conocidos como Ultralight Metallic Microlattices.
