Actualmente se encuentra sin estandarizar y las empresas de telecomunicaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n desarrollando sus prototipos. Est\u00e1 previsto que su uso com\u00fan sea en 2020.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>La velocidad a la que permite navegar esta tecnolog\u00eda en dispositivos m\u00f3viles es de 400 megabits por segundo, seg\u00fan wp. La compa\u00f1\u00eda sueca Ericsson a\u00fan no ha conseguido alcanzar velocidades de 5 Gbps reales, con demostraciones en directo del est\u00e1ndar previo a la tecnolog\u00eda de red (preest\u00e1ndar) 5G.\u200b En noviembre de 2014, Huawei anunci\u00f3 la firma de un acuerdo con la operadora m\u00f3vil rusa Megafon para estandarizar y desarrollar redes 5G de prueba, en vistas a la Copa Mundial de F\u00fatbol de 2018.\u200b<\/p>\n<p>En febrero de 2017, la Uni\u00f3n Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) dependiente de Naciones Unidas revel\u00f3 alguna de las especificaciones de la tecnolog\u00eda 5G. Entre ellas se incluyen: velocidades m\u00ednimas de 20 Gbps de descarga y 10 Gbps de subida, y una latencia de 4 ms.<\/p>\n<p>Se pretende optimizar los dispositivos para hacerlo lo m\u00e1s eficiente posible para el Internet de las cosas (IoT, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s).
