Pues parece que machine learning es el t\u00e9rmino general para a partir de unos datos de entrada encontrar correlaciones y poder hacer predicciones a futuro sobre estos datos, usando determinados algoritmos. Y deep learning es un subconjunto de machine learning en el que el algoritmo a usar es el de redes neuronales.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>En machine learning en general se usan cosas como \u00e1rboles de decisi\u00f3n, redes bayesianas, clustering, etc, etc. En deep learning se usan redes neuronales.<\/p>\n<p>Y una vez entendido el asunto, me he dicho \u2026 seguro que hay cosas en java hechas. Y s\u00ed, hay bastantes. La que m\u00e1s me han llamado la atenci\u00f3n, por la parte de machine learning, es\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.waikato.ac.nz\/ml\/weka\/\">Weka<\/a>. He estado\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chuwiki.chuidiang.org\/index.php?title=Ejemplo_con_Weka\">jugando con Weka<\/a>\u00a0y no es muy compleja de usar, me ha parecido bien. Tambi\u00e9n he visto, aunque no jugado todav\u00eda,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tensorflow.org\/\">TensorFlow<\/a>, esta de redes neuronales (deep learning) y al menos la web tiene muy buena pinta y TensorFlow es de google, que siempre hace que al menos merezca la pena mirarla. De todas formas he sido \u201cmalo\u201d y le puesto la mosca detr\u00e1s de la oreja a un compa\u00f1ero de trabajo, que s\u00ed ha jugado con ella y me ha dado buenas referencias tras hacer sus experimentos.<\/p>\n<p>Pero tras leer un poco sobre esto y jugar con weka \u2026 me he decepcionado un poco. Weka no me ha costado mucho porque he visto que ten\u00eda una cosa que se llama \u00e1rboles de decisi\u00f3n como algoritmo para clasificar muestras y he podido hacer r\u00e1pidamente mis pruebas porque s\u00e9 c\u00f3mo funciona un \u00e1rbol de decisi\u00f3n. \u00bfY por qu\u00e9 lo s\u00e9?. Porque all\u00e1 por 1993 (hace ya 25 a\u00f1os) estuve intentando hacer el doctorado de mi carrera (no lo termin\u00e9, por eso \u201cintentando\u201d) y ya entonces exist\u00edan los \u00e1rboles de decisi\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n por aquella \u00e9poca exist\u00edan las redes neuronales (ahora por lo visto llamadas deep learning).<\/p>\n<p>Entonces .. . \u00bfhemos evolucionado algo?. Pues mi conclusi\u00f3n es que en conceptos\/algoritmos me da la impresi\u00f3n de que no, posiblemente se han mejorado o se han variado, pero b\u00e1sicamente sigue siendo lo mismo que hab\u00eda al menos hace 25 a\u00f1os. Lo que s\u00ed ha evolucionado un mont\u00f3n es que ahora hay un mogoll\u00f3n m\u00e1s de datos, tenemos m\u00e1s potencia de CPU y tenemos m\u00e1s posibilidades de hacer c\u00e1lculo distribuido en cluster de servidores, por lo que todos estos algoritmos tienen ahora mucha m\u00e1s potencia y posibilidades. De hecho, aunque no he encontrado una referencia clara, en algunos sitios si mencionan que la palabra \u201cdeep\u201d es porque ahora se pueden poner muchas m\u00e1s capas en las redes neuronales.<\/p>\n<p>Y lo que m\u00e1s ha evolucionado, en 1993 internet no era lo que es hoy y me tuve que hacer yo desde cero el c\u00f3digo de los \u00e1rboles de decisi\u00f3n, estudiando e implementando las f\u00f3rmulas de entrop\u00eda del conjunto de muestras. Tambi\u00e9n me hice desde cero mis redes neuronales. Ahora hay mucha gente que ha hecho librer\u00edas que tienen todo esto implementado, como Weka o TensorFlow, y est\u00e1n f\u00e1cilmente accesibles y documentadas en internet.
