{"id":18432,"date":"2019-09-18T08:33:42","date_gmt":"2019-09-18T14:33:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=18432"},"modified":"2019-09-18T08:33:57","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T14:33:57","slug":"5g-llego-para-destronar-al-wi-fi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/tech\/5g-llego-para-destronar-al-wi-fi\/","title":{"rendered":"5G, \u00bflleg\u00f3 para destronar al Wi-Fi?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hasta hoy, ten\u00edamos bien definidas prestaciones de una y otra tecnolog\u00eda,\u00a0<strong>LTE como infraestructura de WAN<\/strong>, donde la prioridad es la cobertura geogr\u00e1fica amplia y el roaming entre celdas para asegurar la conectividad en movimiento.\u00a0<strong>Wi-Fi como infraestructura de LAN<\/strong>, es decir, red de cercan\u00eda, con foco en performance (capacidad de datos, bajo delay, gran densidad de clientes en espacios reducidos).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>El 5G irrumpe en el mercado prometiendo equiparar muchas de las prestaciones donde Wi-Fi era visiblemente superior<\/strong>. Tambi\u00e9n, los primeros draft del standard indican que podr\u00e1 trabajar en bandas no licenciadas, lo cual podr\u00eda significar trascender el \u00e1mbito de las telecomunicaciones para ser una tecnolog\u00eda que pueda ser manejada por empresas y particulares sin necesidad de disponer espectro licenciado.<\/p>\n<p>Por todo lo mencionado anteriormente, es que surge la hip\u00f3tesis de que\u00a0<strong>5G pueda avanzar sobre el actual TAM de Wi-Fi<\/strong>. Sin embargo, ambas seguir\u00e1n siendo tecnolog\u00edas complementarias y habilitadoras de nuevas aplicaciones que requieran concurrencia, manejo de grandes vol\u00famenes de informaci\u00f3n y baja latencia, ya que cada una posee sus ventajas y desventajas.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien 5G promete ofrecer una velocidad inigualable, no carece de debilidades. Por un lado,\u00a0<strong>posee una cobertura interior costosa<\/strong>, debido a que las se\u00f1ales de alta frecuencia que utiliza son extremadamente propensas a la atenuaci\u00f3n y, en consecuencia, se requiere una planificaci\u00f3n de red compleja para su despliegue. Por el otro lado, cuenta con una mala compatibilidad de terminales. La evoluci\u00f3n a los terminales 5G requiere un redise\u00f1o completo del producto, lo que agrega un costo y complejidad significativos al sistema.<\/p>\n<p>A diferencia,\u00a0<strong>Wi-Fi 6, se destaca en ambientes interiores<\/strong>. Puede manejar incluso los escenarios m\u00e1s exigentes que requieren gran ancho de banda, gran capacidad y baja latencia, por lo\u00a0<strong>que es ideal para aplicaciones que requieren mucho ancho de banda y sensibles a la latencia<\/strong>, como VR, 4K y veh\u00edculos guiados automatizados (AGV). Sin embargo, debido a la limitaci\u00f3n de los recursos de espectro y la potencia, Wi-Fi 6\u00a0<strong>no funciona bien en escenarios de larga distancia al aire libre<\/strong>\u00a0donde las se\u00f1ales son propensas a la interferencia.<\/p>\n<p>Por lo tanto,\u00a0<strong>el 5G no vino a desplazar a la tecnolog\u00eda Wi-Fi sino m\u00e1s bien a complementarla<\/strong>, solo al implementarlos juntos, se podr\u00e1 crear una red \u00f3ptima y rentable que pueda manejar una amplia gama de escenarios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuente:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"referenceListItem\" title=\"Fuente a\u00f1adida recientemente a esta lista\">TyZ Magazine.
