Apenas lleva 70 a\u00f1os entre nosotros (se fabric\u00f3 por primera vez en 1941)<!--more-->, pero ha sido tiempo m\u00e1s que suficiente para que una bacter\u00eda haya encontrado la manera de com\u00e9rselo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/uzhtfjuydhisttje0l2t.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1925 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/uzhtfjuydhisttje0l2t.jpg\" alt=\"uzhtfjuydhisttje0l2t\" width=\"800\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/uzhtfjuydhisttje0l2t.jpg 800w, https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/uzhtfjuydhisttje0l2t-600x341.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>El hallazgo ha sido obra de un equipo de Cient\u00edficos Japoneses que ha encontrado la bacteria mientras investigaba aguas residuales. El microorganismo es totalmente in\u00e9dito, y ha recibido el nombre de\u00a0Ideonella sakaiensis.\u00a0Lo sorprendente de esta criatura es que ha tenido que evolucionar a partir de alguna especie de bacteria y lo ha hecho muy, muy r\u00e1pido. Teniendo en cuenta que el PET se ide\u00f3 hace 70 a\u00f1os, probablemente haya tardado solo unas d\u00e9cadas en descubrir y aprender a comer pl\u00e1stico.<\/p>\n<p>La\u00a0Ideonella\u00a0se alimenta exclusivamente de PET. La bacteria se adhiere a las superficies de pl\u00e1stico y se las come poco a poco mediante dos enzimas digestivas que rompen los enlaces del pl\u00e1stico y lo convierten en \u00e1cido tereft\u00e1lico y etilenglicol. Ambas sustancias son las que sirven de alimento final al microorganismo.<\/p>\n<p>Hace cuatro a\u00f1os se descubri\u00f3 un\u00a0hongo amaz\u00f3nico\u00a0que tambi\u00e9n degrada el pl\u00e1stico, pero la\u00a0Ideonella\u00a0tiene un inter\u00e9s especial para el ser humano porque podr\u00eda ser la soluci\u00f3n para eliminar todo el PET no biodegradable que contamina el planeta. El problema actual es que actualmente la bacteria es demasiado ineficaz para acabar con grandes cantidades de pl\u00e1stico porque es muy lenta reproduci\u00e9ndose.
