El mecanismo se llama Crispr\/Cas9 y es conocido como &#8220;tijeras moleculares&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La terapia gen\u00e9tica consiste en introducir un gen normal en las c\u00e9lulas que tienen un gen con problemas, como si fuera un caballo de Troya, para que haga el trabajo del gen que no funciona, pero Crispr va m\u00e1s lejos: en lugar de a\u00f1adir un gen, modifica el gen existente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Su uso es f\u00e1cil, barato y permite a los cient\u00edficos &#8220;cortar&#8221;\u00a0el ADN exactamente donde quieren, para por ejemplo corregir una mutaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica y curar una enfermedad rara.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El descubrimiento es reciente pero ha sido citado desde hace algunos a\u00f1os como candidato al Nobel. Este logro se ve envuelto sin embargo en disputas de patentes, concretamente con el investigador estadounidense de origen chino Feng Zhang, lo que hizo pensar a algunos que la recompensa no llegar\u00eda por ahora.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las dos genetistas han recibido varios galardones por este descubrimento: el Breakthrough Prize (2015), el Princesa de Asturias en Espa\u00f1a (2015) y\u00a0el premio Kavli de las nanociencias en Noruega (2018), entre otros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para William Kaelin, que gan\u00f3 el Nobel de Medicina el a\u00f1o pasado, este descubrimiento gen\u00e9tico es uno de los m\u00e1s grandes de la d\u00e9cada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fuente:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&lt;p; tab-interval=&#8221;36pt&#8221;&gt;Deutsche Welle (www.dw.com).
