Ahora, investigadores del grupo de investigaci\u00f3n Smart Sustainable Resources (SSR-UPC), vinculado a la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica Superior de Ingenieria de Manresa (EPSEM) de la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya \u00b7 BarcelonaTech (UPC) (Espa\u00f1a), han caracterizado 16 nuevos compuestos del cannabis que no se hab\u00edan identificado hasta ahora. Lo han hecho a partir de un estudio de una planta de cannabis de alta potencia, con un efecto psicotr\u00f3pico elevado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; border: 0px; font-variant-numeric: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.6; font-family: 'Open Sans', serif; font-size: 15px; margin: 0px 0px 1rem; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; color: #212529; text-align: justify;\">En el articulo publicado en la revista \u2018Planta Medica\u2019, el investigador Xavier de las Heras, vinculado al Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Minera, Industrial y TIC de la UPC, ha estudiado el compuesto qu\u00edmico psicoactivo predominante de la planta del cannabis, el tetrahidrocannabinol (THC), y ha encontrado otro que tiene una cadena lateral de siete \u00e1tomos de carbono en lugar de cinco, es decir, dos m\u00e1s que el psicotr\u00f3pico THC habitual. Este alargamiento de la cadena de hasta siete \u00e1tomos de carbono estar\u00eda asociada, muy probablemente, a una mayor psicoactividad de la planta estudiada. La caracterizaci\u00f3n de los nuevos componentes del cannabis puede abrir la puerta a encontrar nuevas utilidades m\u00e9dicas a los principios activos de la planta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; border: 0px; font-variant-numeric: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.6; font-family: 'Open Sans', serif; font-size: 15px; margin: 0px 0px 1rem; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; color: #212529; text-align: justify;\">La caracterizaci\u00f3n de estos nuevos componentes se ha realizado en el marco de la tesis doctoral \u2018Estudio de biomarcadores lip\u00eddicos en plantas de la cuenca mediterr\u00e1nea y sus implicaciones geoqu\u00edmicas en sistemas acu\u00e1ticos\u2019, realizada por Josep Basas, estudiante del programa de doctorado en Recursos Naturales y Medio Ambiente de la UPC, y dirigida por Xavier de las Heras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; border: 0px; font-variant-numeric: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 1.6; font-family: 'Open Sans', serif; font-size: 15px; margin: 0px 0px 1rem; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; color: #212529; text-align: justify;\">Desde el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n SSR-UPC se trabaja en otros \u00e1mbitos, como los asociados a la biotecnolog\u00eda y tambi\u00e9n en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de compuestos org\u00e1nicos mediante la t\u00e9cnica de la cromatograf\u00eda de gases acoplada a la espectrometr\u00eda de masas. Algunas mol\u00e9culas presentes en vegetales se preservan en sedimentos recientes y fosilizan conservando la mayor parte de su estructura qu\u00edmica original. De este modo se pueden encontrar f\u00f3siles moleculares en rocas sedimentarias que se relacionan con el tipo de vegetaci\u00f3n de donde provienen.
