{"id":21331,"date":"2021-01-26T10:12:28","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T16:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=21331"},"modified":"2021-01-26T10:14:07","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T16:14:07","slug":"alarmante-nuevo-estudio-hielo-del-mundo-se-derrite-un-65-mas-rapido-que-en-la-decada-de-1990","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/alarmante-nuevo-estudio-hielo-del-mundo-se-derrite-un-65-mas-rapido-que-en-la-decada-de-1990\/","title":{"rendered":"Alarmante, nuevo estudio hielo del mundo se derrite un 65% m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que en la d\u00e9cada de 1990"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Un estudio, el primero de su tipo, ha examinado el registro de los sat\u00e9lites para ver c\u00f3mo la crisis clim\u00e1tica est\u00e1 afectando al hielo del planeta a nivel global.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El ritmo de p\u00e9rdida de hielo en todo el mundo ha aumentado en m\u00e1s de un 60% en las \u00faltimas tres d\u00e9cadas, seg\u00fan un estudio publicado el lunes en The Cryosphere <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><!--more--><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Las capas de hielo siguen los escenarios de calentamiento clim\u00e1tico establecidos por el Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El aumento del nivel del mar a esta escala tendr\u00e1 impactos muy graves en las comunidades costeras este siglo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><cite><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Dr. Thomas Slater, autor principal del estudio e investigador del Centro de Observaci\u00f3n y Modelizaci\u00f3n Polar de Leeds<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/cite><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Estudios anteriores han usado datos de sat\u00e9lite para evaluar la p\u00e9rdida de hielo de puntos concretos, como los casquetes polares. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Pero \u00e9ste es el primero que tiene en cuenta todas las fuentes de p\u00e9rdida de hielo a nivel global.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cantidad de hielo perdida.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El estudio ha constatado que el mundo perdi\u00f3 de 31 billones de toneladas entre 1994 y 2017. Durante ese tiempo, la tasa de p\u00e9rdida de hielo tambi\u00e9n aument\u00f3 un 65%, pasando de 0,9 billones de toneladas de estadounidenses al a\u00f1o a 1,4 billones de toneladas estadounidenses al a\u00f1o. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La p\u00e9rdida de hielo de las capas de hielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida y Groenlandia contribuy\u00f3 en gran medida a esa cifra.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El documento tambi\u00e9n desglosa qu\u00e9 fuentes han perdido m\u00e1s hielo en t\u00e9rminos totales entre 1994 y 2017. fuente. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En el caso del hielo marino del \u00c1rtico y de los glaciares de monta\u00f1a, el aumento de las temperaturas atmosf\u00e9ricas ha impulsado el deshielo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En el caso de la capa de hielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida, la causa principal ha sido el aumento de las temperaturas oce\u00e1nicas. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Y en el caso de la capa de hielo de Groenlandia y las plataformas de hielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida, el deshielo ha aumentado por una combinaci\u00f3n de ambas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">En total, el deshielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida, Groenlandia y los glaciares de monta\u00f1a ha aumentado el nivel del mar en unos 34,6 mil\u00edmetros, seg\u00fan el estudio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Aunque esto no parezca mucho, cada cent\u00edmetro de subida del nivel del mar pone a un mill\u00f3n de personas en zonas bajas en riesgo de verse inundadas. Adem\u00e1s, el aumento del nivel del mar no es la \u00fanica amenaza del deshielo.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Adem\u00e1s de contribuir a la subida media del nivel del mar, los glaciares de monta\u00f1a son tambi\u00e9n un recurso fundamental de agua dulce para las comunidades locales. El retroceso de los glaciares en todo el mundo tiene, por tanto, una importancia crucial tanto a escala local como global.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><cite>In\u00e8s Otosaka, coautora del informe e investigadora del doctorado de Leeds<\/cite><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El derretimiento del hielo marino del \u00c1rtico tambi\u00e9n es un problema porque reduce la capa de hielo que refleja la energ\u00eda solar hacia el espacio.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A medida que el hielo marino se reduce, los oc\u00e9anos y la atm\u00f3sfera absorben m\u00e1s energ\u00eda solar, lo que hace que el \u00c1rtico se caliente m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que cualquier otro lugar del planeta. Esto no s\u00f3lo acelera el derretimiento del hielo marino, sino que tambi\u00e9n acent\u00faa el derretimiento de los glaciares y las capas de hielo, lo que provoca el aumento del nivel del mar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><cite>Dra. Isobel Lawrence, coautora y becaria de investigaci\u00f3n de Leeds.<\/cite><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El cient\u00edfico del clima Gavin Schmidt, que no particip\u00f3 en el estudio, lo calific\u00f3 de \u201c<em>recuento exhaustivo de c\u00f3mo est\u00e1 desapareciendo el hielo del \u00c1rtico, el Ant\u00e1rtico y las cordilleras<\/em>\u201c.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Sin embargo, no est\u00e1 de acuerdo con la afirmaci\u00f3n del documento de que el derretimiento del hielo marino flotante no contribuye directamente al aumento del nivel del mar. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Apunt\u00f3 a un\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/gji\/article\/170\/1\/145\/2019346\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">documento de 2007<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> en el que se conclu\u00eda que si todo el hielo marino flotante se derritiera, el nivel del mar subir\u00eda unos cuatro cent\u00edmetros. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Slater se mostr\u00f3 de acuerdo en que la redacci\u00f3n deber\u00eda modificar para dejar claro que el deshielo del mar flotante contribuye ligeramente a la subida del nivel del mar.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">V\u00eda <\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leeds.ac.uk\/news\/article\/4756\/global_ice_loss_increases_at_record_rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">www.leeds.ac.uk<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Fuente:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">R.
