Universidad de Pennsylvania han conseguido levitar objetos usando \u00fanicamente la luz, antesala de lo que podr\u00eda ser el equivalente a la alfombra m\u00e1gica de los cuentos infantiles.<\/span><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Eso significa que, en el futuro, aviones propulsados \u200b\u200bpor luz solar podr\u00edan volar en la mesosfera, la capa de la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre que se extiende entre los 50 Km y los 80 km de altitud.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A esa altura, la atm\u00f3sfera es muy delgada y contiene solo el 0.1% de la masa total del aire. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En esas condiciones, los aviones y los globos no pueden mantenerse en vuelo, pero esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda podr\u00eda conseguir que los aviones muy peque\u00f1os puedan desarrollar en la mesosfera cometidos de investigaci\u00f3n de gran inter\u00e9s cient\u00edfico.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Discos voladores<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Para conseguir la\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tendencias21.levante-emv.com\/un-nuevo-descubrimiento-permitiria-la-levitacion-de-seres-humanos_a44349.html\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">levitaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0mediante la luz, los investigadores cortaron discos de un material transparente denominado Tereftalato de polietileno, tambi\u00e9n conocido como Mylar o Melinex.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Se trata de un tipo de pl\u00e1stico muy usado en envases de bebidas y textiles. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Es un pol\u00edmero que pertenece al grupo de materiales sint\u00e9ticos denominados poli\u00e9steres.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Los discos de Mylar, de 6 mil\u00edmetros de di\u00e1metro, fueron recubiertos en sus lados inferiores con nanotubos de carbono, que presentan una alta conductividad el\u00e9ctrica y t\u00e9rmica.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Los discos fueron depositados en el interior de una c\u00e1mara de vac\u00edo hecha de material acr\u00edlico, junto a ocho diodos emisores de luz (LED) que concentraron su energ\u00eda en las dos peque\u00f1as bandejas de pl\u00e1stico.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cuando se alcanz\u00f3 la temperatura adecuada, los discos empezaron a levitar dentro de la c\u00e1mara a una presi\u00f3n que imitaba a la de la mesosfera.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Gracias a los nanotubos<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Tal como\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencenews.org\/article\/tiny-sunlight-powered-aircraft-could-soar-beyond-airplanes-reach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">explica<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0al respecto la revista ScienceNews, los nanotubos de carbono son los que permiten la levitaci\u00f3n de los discos porque absorben la luz y calientan al disco.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Gracias a las caracter\u00edsticas de los nanotubos, las mol\u00e9culas del aire obtienen energ\u00eda cuando chocan con el disco calentado, rebotando a mayor velocidad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Esa energ\u00eda adicional se traduce en mol\u00e9culas m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidas que rebotan en el lado inferior del disco Mylar m\u00e1s deprisa que en la parte superior, provocando as\u00ed su levitaci\u00f3n mediante peque\u00f1as y poderosas r\u00e1fagas.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wired\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/researchers-levitated-a-small-tray-using-nothing-but-light\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">adelanta<\/a>\u00a0las posibles aplicaciones de esta tecnolog\u00eda: se trata de la primera instancia de vuelo fotofor\u00e9tico (impulsado por luz) estable, que simula c\u00f3mo se comportar\u00edan diferentes placas en la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Un ojo en la mesosfera<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El resultado indica que un disco levitante, como una peque\u00f1a alfombra m\u00e1gica, podr\u00eda volar en la mesosfera transportando una carga del tama\u00f1o de un sensor que servir\u00eda para estudiar el tiempo meteorol\u00f3gico y el clima desde una perspectiva nueva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mesosfera es atravesada por estrellas fugaces, rayos c\u00f3smicos de diferentes colores y de part\u00edculas energ\u00e9ticas originadas por las tormentas solares que influyen en la capa de ozono.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tener un observador en esa delgada capa de la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre es una vieja aspiraci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica que ahora se perfila posible, aunque la tecnolog\u00eda que lo permite necesita superar todav\u00eda algunos desaf\u00edos para convertirse en realidad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los discos levitantes podr\u00edan funcionar con luz solar o l\u00e1ser y alg\u00fan d\u00eda llevar peque\u00f1os instrumentos para medir las condiciones en la mesosfera relativamente inexplorada, sugieren los investigadores.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Polvo inteligente<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El modelo de levitaci\u00f3n fotofer\u00e9tica obtenido en esta investigaci\u00f3n permite calcular c\u00f3mo se comportar\u00e1n estos peque\u00f1os objetos voladores en diferentes tama\u00f1os y diversas condiciones atmosf\u00e9ricas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ha establecido, por ejemplo, que un disco de 6 cent\u00edmetros de di\u00e1metro puede transportar una carga de 10 miligramos levitando con este sistema, suficiente para soportar sensores de polvo inteligente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El polvo inteligente es una red inal\u00e1mbrica de peque\u00f1os sensores que pueden detectar se\u00f1ales de luz, temperatura, vibraciones y otras informaciones
