Para 2030 se estima que el n\u00famero de casos aumentar\u00e1 62%, elevando la cifra a 13,1 millones de personas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEst\u00e1 claro que existe un enorme potencial para un dispositivo que puede localizar el tratamiento en el sitio de la\u00a0enfermedad. Al\u00a0implantarlo, el dispositivo consigue liberar de manera localizada los f\u00e1rmacos para controlar la progresi\u00f3n del tumor y potencialmente reducir el tama\u00f1o para que pueda ser eliminado por el cirujano\u201d, dijo Laura Indolfi, responsable de la investigaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El dispositivo consta de un\u00a0pol\u00edmero\u00a0muy fino y flexible llamado PLGA que puede enrollarse e introducirse en un estrecho tubo que se inserta en un cat\u00e9ter. Una vez que alcanza el p\u00e1ncreas, el dispositivo se despliega, se adapta a la forma del tumor y va liberando de forma programada los medicamentos que contiene. El material se ha dise\u00f1ado de forma que solo secreta las sustancias por el lado que se halla en contacto con el tumor, lo que minimiza los efectos secundarios en los \u00f3rganos cercanos.<\/p>\n<p>En el estudio con ratones, encontraron que este enfoque era hasta 12 veces m\u00e1s eficaz que administrar f\u00e1rmacos\u00a0quimioterap\u00e9uticos\u00a0mediante inyecci\u00f3n
