{"id":21904,"date":"2021-03-18T11:21:38","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T17:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=21904"},"modified":"2021-03-18T11:22:32","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T17:22:32","slug":"grafeno-para-atrapar-dioxido-de-carbono","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/grafeno-para-atrapar-dioxido-de-carbono\/","title":{"rendered":"Grafeno para atrapar di\u00f3xido de carbono"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Uno de los principales culpables del calentamiento global es la enorme cantidad de di\u00f3xido de carbono que se bombea a la atm\u00f3sfera, principalmente por la quema de combustibles f\u00f3siles y la producci\u00f3n de acero y cemento. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Una posible manera de evitar que la situaci\u00f3n se vuelva m\u00e1s problem\u00e1tica es recurrir a alg\u00fan proceso que pueda atrapar el di\u00f3xido de carbono generado en procesos de esa clase, para as\u00ed poder transportarlo luego a un lugar donde almacenarlo de forma segura y duradera o emplear en la elaboraci\u00f3n de productos qu\u00edmicos, sin permitir en ning\u00fan caso que se incorpore a la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El problema es que capturar el di\u00f3xido de carbono de las f\u00e1bricas y centrales el\u00e9ctricas que lo emiten no es muy rentable. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La raz\u00f3n principal es que el di\u00f3xido de carbono liberado en tales instalaciones no se emite en estado puro, sino que est\u00e1 mezclado con nitr\u00f3geno y otros gases, y extraerlo de las emisiones industriales requiere un consumo extra de energ\u00eda, lo que supone un coste m\u00e1s elevado .<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Los sistemas desarrollados hasta ahora para filtrar di\u00f3xido de carbono, o sea para extraerlo de la mezcla de gases y entonces almacenarlo o emplearlo en la elaboraci\u00f3n de sustancias qu\u00edmicas \u00fatiles, han sido poco eficientes, al estar limitados por las propiedades fundamentales de los materiales actualmente disponibles<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El equipo de Kumar Varoon Agrawal, de la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica Federal de Lausana en Suiza, ha desarrollado para esa labor el filtro m\u00e1s fino del mundo, concretamente a partir de grafeno, el famoso &#8220;material milagroso&#8221; que mereci\u00f3 la concesi\u00f3n de un premio Nobel de F\u00edsica en 2010. El grafeno es una capa de carbono con un \u00e1tomo de espesor. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En esta capa, los \u00e1tomos de carbono est\u00e1n distribuidos formando una ret\u00edcula hexagonal, que recuerda a la de un panal de abejas. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Pero el nuevo filtro de grafeno no solo es el m\u00e1s fino del mundo, sino que tambi\u00e9n puede separar el di\u00f3xido de carbono de una mezcla de gases como la emitida t\u00edpicamente por f\u00e1bricas e instalaciones similares, y hacerlo con una eficacia y una rapidez que superan a las de la mayor\u00eda de los filtros actuales.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Nuestro planteamiento fue sencillo&#8221;, explica Agrawal acerca del procesamiento molecular de los gases. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Hicimos agujeros del tama\u00f1o del di\u00f3xido de carbono en el grafeno, lo que us\u00f3 que el di\u00f3xido de carbono fluyera a trav\u00e9s de ellos mientras se bloqueaba el paso a otros gases como el nitr\u00f3geno, que son m\u00e1s grandes que el di\u00f3xido de carbono&#8221;. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El resultado es un rendimiento r\u00e9cord en la captura de di\u00f3xido de carbono.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Calculamos que esta tecnolog\u00eda reducir\u00e1 el coste de la captura de carbono hasta dejarlo cerca de los 30 d\u00f3lares por tonelada de di\u00f3xido de carbono, en contraste con los procesos comerciales actuales en los cuales el coste es de dos a cuatro veces mayor&#8221;, estima Agrawal .<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Agrawal y sus colegas han expuesto los detalles de la nueva tecnolog\u00eda en la revista acad\u00e9mica Science Advances.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"hidden-print\">\n<div id=\"comments\" class=\"comment-wrapper\">\n<form id=\"comment-form\" class=\"comment-form\" accept-charset=\"UTF-8\" action=\"https:\/\/www.madrimasd.org\/comment\/reply\/48491\" method=\"post\">\n<div class=\"form-item form-type-textfield form-item-name\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Fuente:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">M.
