{"id":22102,"date":"2021-04-05T08:50:56","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T14:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=22102"},"modified":"2021-04-05T08:50:56","modified_gmt":"2021-04-05T14:50:56","slug":"reciclan-neumaticos-en-grafeno-para-producir-hormigon-mas-fuerte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/reciclan-neumaticos-en-grafeno-para-producir-hormigon-mas-fuerte\/","title":{"rendered":"Reciclan neum\u00e1ticos en grafeno para producir hormig\u00f3n m\u00e1s fuerte"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<article id=\"post-95850\" class=\"post-95850 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-destacada category-innovacion tag-fuerte tag-grafeno tag-hormigon tag-neumaticos tag-reciclan\">\n<div class=\"article-content clearfix\">\n<div class=\"entry-content clearfix\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cient\u00edficos de la Universidad de Rice han optimizado un proceso para convertir los desechos de las llantas de caucho en grafeno que, a su vez, puede usarse para fortalecer el hormig\u00f3n.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los beneficios ambientales de agregar grafeno al hormig\u00f3n son claros, dijo el qu\u00edmico James Tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEl hormig\u00f3n es el material m\u00e1s producido en el mundo, y simplemente hacerlo produce hasta el 9% de las emisiones de di\u00f3xido de carbono del mundo\u201d, dijo Tour en un comunicado. \u201cSi podemos utilizar menos hormig\u00f3n en nuestras carreteras, edificios y puentes, podemos eliminar algunas de las emisiones desde el principio\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los residuos de neum\u00e1ticos reciclados ya se utilizan como componente del cemento Portland, pero se ha demostrado que el grafeno fortalece los materiales cementosos, entre ellos el hormig\u00f3n, a nivel molecular.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si bien la mayor\u00eda de los 800 millones de neum\u00e1ticos desechados anualmente se queman como combustible o se muelen para otras aplicaciones, el 16% de ellos terminan en vertederos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cRecuperar incluso una fracci\u00f3n de esos como grafeno evitar\u00e1 que millones de neum\u00e1ticos lleguen a los vertederos\u201d, dijo Tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El proceso \u2018flash\u2019 introducido por Tour y sus colegas en 2020 se ha utilizado para convertir desechos de alimentos, pl\u00e1stico y otras fuentes de carbono al exponerlos a una descarga el\u00e9ctrica que elimina todo menos \u00e1tomos de carbono de la muestra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esos \u00e1tomos se vuelven a ensamblar en un valioso grafeno turboestr\u00e1tico, que tiene capas desalineadas que son m\u00e1s solubles que el grafeno producido mediante la exfoliaci\u00f3n del grafito. Eso hace que sea m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de usar en materiales compuestos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El caucho result\u00f3 ser m\u00e1s desafiante que los alimentos o el pl\u00e1stico para convertirse en grafeno, pero el laboratorio optimiz\u00f3 el proceso utilizando caucho de desecho pirolizado comercial de neum\u00e1ticos. Despu\u00e9s de que se extraen los aceites \u00fatiles de las llantas de desecho, este residuo de carbono ha tenido hasta ahora un valor cercano a cero, dijo Tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El negro de carb\u00f3n derivado de llantas o una mezcla de llantas de caucho trituradas y negro de carb\u00f3n comercial se puede convertir en grafeno. Debido a que el grafeno turboestr\u00e1tico es soluble, se puede agregar f\u00e1cilmente al cemento para hacer un concreto m\u00e1s ecol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La investigaci\u00f3n dirigida por Tour y Rouzbeh Shahsavari de C-Crete Technologies se detalla en la revista Carbon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El laboratorio de Rice mostr\u00f3 negro de carb\u00f3n derivado de neum\u00e1ticos y encontr\u00f3 que aproximadamente el 70% del material se convirti\u00f3 en grafeno. Al \u2018flashear\u2019 neum\u00e1ticos de caucho triturado mezclados con negro de humo simple para agregar conductividad, aproximadamente el 47% se convirti\u00f3 en grafeno. Los elementos adem\u00e1s del carbono se ventilaron para otros usos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los pulsos el\u00e9ctricos duraron entre 300 milisegundos y 1 segundo. El laboratorio calcul\u00f3 que la electricidad utilizada en el proceso de conversi\u00f3n costar\u00eda alrededor de 100 d\u00f3lares por tonelada de carbono inicial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores mezclaron cantidades min\u00fasculas de grafeno derivado de llantas \u20130.1 por ciento en peso (% en peso) para el negro de carb\u00f3n de llantas y 0.05% en peso para el negro de carb\u00f3n y llantas trituradas\u2013 con cemento Portland y lo usaron para producir cilindros de concreto. Probados despu\u00e9s de curar durante siete d\u00edas, los cilindros mostraron ganancias de 30% o m\u00e1s en resistencia a la compresi\u00f3n.
