style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span inherit;\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 hacer chips de computadora gigantes?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Si bien las unidades de procesamiento de gr\u00e1ficos (GPU) siguen dominando la inteligencia artificial, no fueron creadas para la IA en particular. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por el contrario, las GPU se desarrollaron y utilizaron por primera vez para aplicaciones con muchos gr\u00e1ficos, como los juegos.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Han hecho cosas incre\u00edbles para la inteligencia artificial y la supercomputaci\u00f3n, pero en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, los chips especializados hechos para la inteligencia artificial est\u00e1n en auge.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cerebras es uno de los contendientes, junto con otros prometedores como Graphcore y SambaNova y nombres m\u00e1s familiares como Intel y NVIDIA.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A la compa\u00f1\u00eda le gusta comparar el WSE-2 con un procesador de inteligencia artificial superior (el A100 de NVIDIA) para subrayar cu\u00e1n diferente es de la competencia. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El A100 tiene un dos por ciento del n\u00famero de transistores (54,2 mil millones) que ocupan un poco menos del dos por ciento de la superficie. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Es mucho m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o, pero el poder del A100 se realiza m\u00e1s plenamente cuando cientos o miles de chips est\u00e1n conectados entre s\u00ed en un sistema m\u00e1s grande.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En contraste, el WSE-2 reduce el costo y la complejidad de unir todos esos chips al bloquear tanto procesamiento y memoria como sea posible en una sola oblea de silicio. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Al mismo tiempo, la eliminaci\u00f3n de la necesidad de mover datos entre muchos chips distribuidos en varios racks de servidores aumenta dr\u00e1sticamente la velocidad y la eficiencia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El dise\u00f1o del chip le da a sus n\u00facleos peque\u00f1os y r\u00e1pidos su propia memoria dedicada y facilita la comunicaci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida entre n\u00facleos. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Y el software de compilaci\u00f3n de Cerebras funciona con modelos de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico utilizando marcos est\u00e1ndar, como PyTorch y TensorFlow, para que la distribuci\u00f3n de tareas entre los n\u00facleos del chip sea bastante sencilla.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El enfoque se denomina computaci\u00f3n a escala de obleas porque el chip es del tama\u00f1o de una oblea de silicio est\u00e1ndar de la que normalmente se cortan muchos chips. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La computaci\u00f3n a escala de obleas ha estado en el radar durante a\u00f1os, pero Cerebras es el primero en hacer un chip comercialmente viable.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El chip viene empaquetado en un sistema inform\u00e1tico llamado CS-2. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El sistema incluye refrigeraci\u00f3n y fuente de alimentaci\u00f3n y cabe en identificados en los sectores farmac\u00e9utico, biotecnol\u00f3gico, de fabricaci\u00f3n y militar. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Muchas aplicaciones han estado en IA, pero no todas. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El a\u00f1o pasado, la compa\u00f1\u00eda dijo que el Laboratorio Nacional de Tecnolog\u00eda Energ\u00e9tica (NETL)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/singularityhub.com\/2020\/11\/22\/the-trillion-transistor-chip-that-just-left-a-supercomputer-in-the-dust\"><span inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Queda por ver si la computaci\u00f3n a escala de obleas se pone de moda.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cerebras dice que su chip acelera significativamente las tareas de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico, y el testimonio de los primeros clientes, algunos de los cuales\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20210420005955\/en\/Cerebras-Systems-Smashes-the-2.5-Trillion-Transistor-Mark-with-New-Second-Generation-Wafer-Scale-Engine\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">afirman grandes ganancias,<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0respalda esto. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Pero a\u00fan no hay comparaciones independientes directas. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Ni Cerebras ni la mayor\u00eda de las otras nuevas empresas de hardware de inteligencia artificial, por ejemplo, participaron en\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/tech-talk\/artificial-intelligence\/machine-learning\/these-might-be-the-fastest-and-most-efficient-ai-systems-around\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0, Cerebras dice que prefieren dejar que los compradores interesados \u200b\u200bprueben el sistema en sus propias redes neuronales espec\u00edficas en el lugar de venderlos en un punto de referencia m\u00e1s general y potencialmente menos aplicable. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Este no es un enfoque poco com\u00fan. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El analista de inteligencia artificial Karl Freund dijo: \u201cTodos ejecutan sus propios modelos que desarrollaron para su propio negocio. href=\"https:\/\/www.anandtech.com\/show\/16626\/cerebras-unveils-wafer-scale-engine-two-wse2-26-trillion-transistors-100-yield\">\u00a0dos o incluso tres CS-2 pueden caber en un gabinete de servidor<\/a>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">En \u00faltima instancia, el WSE-2 no tiene sentido para tareas m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as en las que una o unas pocas GPU har\u00e1n el truco.\u00a0Por el momento, el chip se est\u00e1 utilizando en grandes proyectos de ciencia e investigaci\u00f3n que requieren gran cantidad de recursos inform\u00e1ticos.\u00a0Las aplicaciones actuales incluyen la investigaci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer y el descubrimiento de f\u00e1rmacos, la detecci\u00f3n de ondas de gravedad y la simulaci\u00f3n de fusi\u00f3n.\u00a0El director ejecutivo y cofundador de Cerebras, Andrew Feldman, dice que tambi\u00e9n puede estar disponible para clientes con necesidades a corto plazo y menos intensivas en la
