Desde el inicio de los tiempos Android hab\u00eda utilizado el formato\u00a0APK<\/strong> para los paquetes de instalaci\u00f3n de las aplicaciones en este sistema operativo m\u00f3vil. Algo que se hab\u00eda convertido en un est\u00e1ndar muy popularizado.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tanto y a tal grado que las tiendas no oficiales, ajenas a la\u00a0Google\u00a0Play Store<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>alojas miles de instaladores de app bajo ese justo formato. El cual, para ser honestos, no es el m\u00e1s funcional, ni ligero.<\/span><\/p>\n

As\u00ed que a muchos no nos toma por sorpresa que la compa\u00f1\u00eda detr\u00e1s de Android haya anunciado la muerte del formato APK, pero sus implicaciones son m\u00e1s grandes de lo que imaginmos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Google lo hace oficial: adi\u00f3s APK<\/span><\/h2>\n

A trav\u00e9s de\u00a0su blog oficial para desarrolladores\u00a0<\/a>la firma ha anunciado que migrar\u00e1 el uso de sus apps en Android. De manera que desechar\u00e1n el viejo formato APK para adoptar de lleno el de\u00a0Android Bundle,\u00a0<\/strong>conocido m\u00e1s popularmente como ABB.<\/span><\/p>\n

Este formato fue lanzado originalmente en el a\u00f1o 2018, como una alternativa mucho m\u00e1s funcional y ligera para desarrolladores que creaban sus apps desde cero. Ya que el empaquetado era mucho m\u00e1s vers\u00e1til y menos pesado.<\/span><\/p>\n

Google toma un paso importante al desechar la apps en formato APK para migrarlas al mucho m\u00e1s ligero ABB. Pero desarrolladores y tiendas no oficiales est\u00e1n en problemas.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

La adopci\u00f3n de ABB fue muy lenta. Pero Google acaba de anunciar que a partir de agosto de 2021 migrar\u00e1n por completo, abandonando APK para ahora utilizar ABB en la Google Play Store.<\/span><\/p>\n

As\u00ed que el salto es relativamente forzado, y eso representar\u00e1 un problema para algunos desarrolladores.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pero no ser\u00eda tan problem\u00e1tico como para los administradores de tiendas de apps externas, donde hasta las iniciales \u201cAPK\u201d las llevan en el nombre.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parece que muchos equipos podr\u00e1n hacer uso de las aplicaciones de Android en Windows 11 gracias a su compatibilidad con estos chips.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Estas plataformas igual que la Amazon App Store y la App Gallery seguir\u00e1n dedicadas al formato APK.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aunque los desarrolladores ahora deber\u00e1n crear dos paquetes de formato si quieren una v\u00eda de distribuci\u00f3n fuera de la Play Store.<\/span><\/p>\n

Y eso que nos falta agregar el factor de\u00a0Windows 11<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0a la ecuaci\u00f3n. Donde la integraci\u00f3n con apps de Android no sabemos si podr\u00eda verse comprometida.<\/span><\/p>\n
