Pero no. Los\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2016-05-ingestible-origami-robot-unfolds-capsule.html\">robot origami<\/a>\u00a0son en realidad una de las herramientas m\u00e1s punteras de la medicina moderna. Gracias a estos peque\u00f1os &#8220;transformers&#8221;, algunos de los procedimientos m\u00e1s comunes podr\u00edan convertirse en un proceso menos invasivo, m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y seguro. El futuro de estos peque\u00f1os robots se augura brillante, tal y como muestra un reciente v\u00eddeo del MIT\u00a0d\u00f3nde explican como su peque\u00f1o robot origami es capaz de eliminar una pila de bot\u00f3n\u00a0y lo demuestran con un est\u00f3mago artificial. As\u00ed es como lucen estos aut\u00f3matas.<\/p>\n<h3>Extrayendo pilas, limpiando est\u00f3magos<\/h3>\n<p>Un extenso equipo formado por investigadores del MIT, la Universidad de Sheffield y el Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Tokyo han presentado un interesante v\u00eddeo donde un peque\u00f1o robot origami es tragado a trav\u00e9s de un es\u00f3fago y activado en el est\u00f3mago, donde se desplaza y se hace con una pila de bot\u00f3n. Tras esto, la pila es extra\u00edda. Por supuesto, el est\u00f3mago y el es\u00f3fago son artificiales. Pero\u00a0sirven como prueba piloto sobre c\u00f3mo habr\u00eda de funcionar el robot origami en un caso real. Para poder realizar su trabajo, el robot es introducido en una p\u00edldora. Una vez dentro, la c\u00e1psula se deshace y el robot es liberado y se desdobla, despleg\u00e1ndose. De esta manera, comienza a desplazarse por las paredes del est\u00f3mago. Para ello se emplean campos magn\u00e9ticos que dirigen al robot origami hacia su destino. Cuando se sit\u00faa en la posici\u00f3n adecuada, sobre la pila por ejemplo, el robot puede volver a plegarse o realizar otra acci\u00f3n, atrapando la pila, que ser\u00e1 sacada gracias al propio robot.<\/p>\n<p>Todos los a\u00f1os se dan miles de casos de cuerpos extra\u00f1os de peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o (como las pilas de bot\u00f3n) tragados por ni\u00f1os. En vez de realizar un procedimiento quir\u00fargico de lavado de est\u00f3mago,\u00a0un robot origami podr\u00eda encargarse de realizar la tarea de una manera m\u00e1s c\u00f3moda para el paciente. Pero no s\u00f3lo sirven para limpiar est\u00f3magos. Las posibilidades de estos robots origami son muchas. Pueden, por ejemplo, ayudar a cerrar una herida provocada por una \u00falcera. O administrar localmente una medicina concreta para mejorar el tratamiento. Las posibilidades son much\u00edsimas, tal y como explican los investigadores.<\/p>\n<h3>Dise\u00f1ando un robot origami<\/h3>\n<p>Llevar a cabo la tarea de este peque\u00f1o robot origami no es f\u00e1cil. Pero dise\u00f1ar al propio robot ha sido a\u00fan m\u00e1s complicado si cabe. Porque, \u00bfc\u00f3mo introducimos un cuerpo extra\u00f1o, aut\u00f3mata, con la certeza de que no causar\u00e1 m\u00e1s problemas de los que ya hay? El robot en concreto, y que\u00a0ser\u00e1 presentado en breve en la Conferencia Internacional de Rob\u00f3tica, est\u00e1 basado en un modelo anterior, presentado el a\u00f1o pasado. Pero para poder desarrollarlo, el equipo ha decidido cambiar por completo el dise\u00f1o, apostando por materiales biodegradables y &#8220;amigables&#8221; con nuestro est\u00f3mago. Por ejemplo, piel de tripa de cerdo. En combinaci\u00f3n con otras mol\u00e9culas biocompatibles, el robot origami es capaz de plegarse mucho; pero al mismo tiempo, es lo suficientemente r\u00edgido como para completar sus tareas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/robot-origami-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2385 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/robot-origami-1.jpg\" alt=\"robot-origami (1)\" width=\"610\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/robot-origami-1.jpg 610w, https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/robot-origami-1-600x311.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Porque no es sencillo desplazarse a trav\u00e9s de un est\u00f3mago lleno de fluidos. Para poder hacerlo, explican sus creadores, el robot se basa en un movimiento llamado &#8220;stick-slip&#8221;. Este\u00a0aprovecha la fricci\u00f3n y la posici\u00f3n del peso del robot sobre la pared en la que se apoya. Adem\u00e1s, en el caso de este robot particular, tambi\u00e9n se aprovecha de la presencia de los fluidos para poder desplazarse. El robot posee varias capas de material biodegradable que envuelven, como un s\u00e1ndwich, otro material que se encoge con el calor. As\u00ed, el robot origami est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado en &#8220;bandas&#8221; que permiten que se mueva y se pliegue a voluntad y seg\u00fan las necesidades.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de las bandas, el robot tiene un peque\u00f1o im\u00e1n que le permite ser controlado desde el exterior. \u00c9ste\u00a0es el mismo im\u00e1n con el que puede retirar la pila de bot\u00f3n\u00a0u otro material met\u00e1lico. Pero tambi\u00e9n se le pueden a\u00f1adir adhesivos biocompatibles u otras sustancias. El dise\u00f1o del robot origami, tal y como explican sus autores, se debe principalmente al ensayo y error. Ha sido de esta manera que han llegado al dise\u00f1o m\u00e1s eficiente y funcional, adem\u00e1s de c\u00f3modo, para ser introducido en el est\u00f3mago de una persona.<\/p>\n<h3>Poni\u00e9ndolo a prueba<\/h3>\n<p>Como hemos visto, el equipo ha realizado un ensayo piloto con un est\u00f3mago artificial. Pero, \u00bfcuando empezar\u00e1 a usarse en humanos? Por supuesto, primero hay que pasar la obligada fase cl\u00ednica que muestre su viabilidad en personas. Esto es indispensable para poder evaluar riesgos y afinar el tratamiento (Como cualquier procedimiento m\u00e9dico o medicamento). A diferencia de los medicamentos,\u00a0este tipo de procedimientos son mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidos de implementar. No obstante, el desarrollo del robot origami no ha terminado. Tal y como anuncian los investigadores, est\u00e1n trabajando en a\u00f1adir sensores y capacidad automotriz al robot, para no tener que aplicar un campo magn\u00e9tico externo. As\u00ed que, \u00bfcu\u00e1nto tiempo tardar\u00e1 en estar disponible si todo sale bien? Es dif\u00edcil saberlo. Pero puede que en un par de a\u00f1os los procedimientos relacionados con la cirug\u00eda estomacal y lavado de est\u00f3mago hayan cambiado radicalmente y para
