style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Aproximadamente dos quintas partes de toda el agua que se extrae de los lagos, r\u00edos y pozos en los EE. style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">No se usa para la agricultura, la bebida o el saneamiento, sino para enfriar las plantas de energ\u00eda que proporcionan electricidad a partir de combustibles f\u00f3siles o energ\u00eda nuclear. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Ahora, una peque\u00f1a empresa basada en tecnolog\u00eda desarrollada recientemente en el MIT por el Grupo de Investigaci\u00f3n de Varanasi espera style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La tecnolog\u00eda es sorprendentemente simple en principio, pero desarrollarla hasta el punto en que ahora se puede probar inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En estas exigentes style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Campus como laboratorio vivo&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La tecnolog\u00eda fue concebida originalmente por el profesor de ingenier\u00eda mec\u00e1nica Kripa Varanasi para desarrollar sistemas eficientes de recuperaci\u00f3n de agua mediante la captura de gotas de agua tanto de la niebla natural como de las columnas de las torres de enfriamiento de las centrales el\u00e9ctricas. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El proyecto comenz\u00f3 como parte de la investigaci\u00f3n de tesis doctoral de Maher Damak PhD &#8217;18, con financiamiento del MIT Tata Center for Technology and Design, para mejorar la eficiencia de los sistemas de recolecci\u00f3n de niebla como los que se usan en algunas regiones costeras \u00e1ridas como fuente de agua potable. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Esos sistemas, que generalmente consiste en pl\u00e1stico o malla met\u00e1lica que cuelga verticalmente en el camino de los bancos de niebla,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">ganaron el Concurso de Emprendimiento MIT $ 100K<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0en 2018 por el concepto b\u00e1sico. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">con financiamiento de la Oficina de Sostenibilidad del MIT. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Despu\u00e9s de experimentar con varias style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El profesor Jacopo Buongiorno, del Departamento de Ciencia e Ingenier\u00eda Nuclear, vio de inmediato una buena oportunidad de colaboraci\u00f3n, ofreciendo el uso de las instalaciones de investigaci\u00f3n del Laboratorio de Reactores Nucleares del MIT para realizar m\u00e1s pruebas del sistema con la ayuda del ingeniero de NRL Ed Block. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Con su funcionamiento las 24 horas del d\u00eda, los 7 d\u00edas de la semana y sus emisiones de vapor a temperaturas m\u00e1s altas, la planta proporcionar\u00eda una prueba m\u00e1s estricta del sistema en el mundo real, adem\u00e1s de demostrar su eficacia en un reactor en funcionamiento real autorizado por la Comisi\u00f3n Reguladora Nuclear, un paso importante. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">en \u201celiminar el riesgo\u201d de la tecnolog\u00eda para que las empresas el\u00e9ctricas puedan sentirse seguras al adoptar el sistema.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Despu\u00e9s de que el sistema se instal\u00f3 sobre una de las cuatro torres de enfriamiento de la planta, las pruebas demostraron que el agua que se recolectaba era m\u00e1s de 100 veces m\u00e1s limpia que el agua de alimentaci\u00f3n que ingresa al sistema de enfriamiento. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Tambi\u00e9n demostr\u00f3 que la instalaci\u00f3n, que, a diferencia de la versi\u00f3n anterior, ten\u00eda sus pantallas de malla montadas verticalmente, paralelas a la corriente de vapor, no tuvo ning\u00fan efecto en el funcionamiento de la planta.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/3u6ZNSaRhfg?t=117\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El video de las pruebas<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span completo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La alta temperatura y el volumen de la columna de vapor de las torres de enfriamiento del reactor representaron &#8220;una especie de escenario en el peor de los casos en t\u00e9rminos de columnas&#8221;, dice Damak, &#8220;as\u00ed que si podemos capturar eso, b\u00e1sicamente podemos capturar Cualquier cosa&#8221;.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color:
