internacionales son cruciales para desarrollar y evaluar candidatos a vacunas contra el VIH en pa\u00edses y comunidades donde las vacunas contra el VIH finalmente tendr\u00e1n el mayor impacto en la inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0, investigadora principal de investigaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica de la Universidad de Oxford e investigadora jefe del ensayo, dijo: &#8220; Una vacuna eficaz contra el VIH sigue siendo un componente esencial pero no realizado del conjunto de herramientas de prevenci\u00f3n del VIH y sigue siendo la soluci\u00f3n m\u00e1s rentable y deseable para poner fin a la epidemia del VIH &#8216;.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En el ensayo, 88 adultos sanos VIH negativos, de entre 18 y 55 a\u00f1os, que se considera que no tienen un alto riesgo de infecci\u00f3n, recibir\u00e1n una dosis de la vacuna, seguida de una dosis de refuerzo adicional a las cuatro semanas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Si bien la mayor\u00eda de las vacunas candidatas contra el VIH funcionan induciendo anticuerpos generados por c\u00e9lulas B, HIVconsvX induce las potentes c\u00e9lulas T que destruyen pat\u00f3genos del sistema inmunol\u00f3gico, dirigi\u00e9ndolas a regiones altamente conservadas y, por lo tanto, vulnerables del VIH, un &#8220;tal\u00f3n de Aquiles &#8220;com\u00fan a la mayor\u00eda de las variantes del VIH.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El Dr. Vincent Muturi-Kioi, director m\u00e9dico de IAVI, dijo: &#8216;Es crucial que tengamos una cartera diversa de candidatos a vacunas contra el VIH que se dirijan tanto a los brazos de anticuerpos como a los de c\u00e9lulas T del sistema inmunol\u00f3gico.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;HIVconsvX representa una nueva y hip\u00f3tesis de hip\u00f3tesis en la participaci\u00f3n del brazo de c\u00e9lulas T asesinas para prevenir la infecci\u00f3n por VIH&#8221;.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En la actualidad, la prevenci\u00f3n del VIH se centra principalmente en intervenciones conductuales y biom\u00e9dicas, como la circuncisi\u00f3n masculina m\u00e9dica voluntaria, el uso de condones y los medicamentos antirretrovirales utilizados antes de la exposici\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El Dr. Walter Jaoko, director del KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) e investigador principal del ensayo, dijo: &#8216;Las vacunas preventivas, especialmente aquellas que brindan protecci\u00f3n duradera contra los principales subtipos de VIH, encontradas una herramienta poderosa para las personas que no pueden acceder o utilizar las opciones de prevenci\u00f3n existentes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Es por eso que sigue siendo una prioridad que dise\u00f1emos y evaluemos
