lang=\"en-GB\">est\u00e1n\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">transformando el sector del transporte, lo que ayuda a\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" Powerwall de Tesla, Mateo Jaramillo, y el gur\u00fa de las bater\u00edas del MIT Yet-Ming Chiang, ha presentado un nuevo dise\u00f1o de bater\u00eda que se basa esencialmente en un proceso de &#8220;oxidaci\u00f3n reversible&#8221; para proporcionar varios d\u00edas almacenamiento de energ\u00eda a costes ultrabajos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">&#8220;Con esta tecnolog\u00eda, estamos abordando la barrera m\u00e1s grande para la descarbonizaci\u00f3n profunda: hacer que la energ\u00eda renovable lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Las bater\u00edas de la compa\u00f1\u00eda son cada una del tama\u00f1o de una lavadora\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">y\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">est\u00e1n llenas de gr\u00e1nulos de hierro y un electrolito a base de agua similar al que se usa en las bater\u00edas AA.\u00a0Para descargarse, la bater\u00eda inhala ox\u00edgeno del aire, convirtiendo los gr\u00e1nulos en\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00f3xido de hierro u \u00f3xido\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">y produciendo electricidad en el proceso.\u00a0T\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">o carga,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">la aplicaci\u00f3n de una corriente c\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">onvert\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">es\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">la parte de atr\u00e1s el \u00f3xido en hierro y expulsar\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">es\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">el ox\u00edgeno.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">La clave de su enfoque es el bajo costo de los materiales constituyentes.\u00a0Las bater\u00edas de iones de litio actuales cuestan entre 50\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">y\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">80 d\u00f3lares por kilovatio-hora gracias a los costosos minerales necesarios para fabricarlas, como n\u00edquel, cobalto, litio y manganeso.\u00a0Seg\u00fan el\u00a0<\/span><em><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/startup-claims-breakthrough-in-long-duration-batteries-11626946330?\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a><\/em><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0, Form puede hacer los suyos por solo $ 20 por kilovatio-hora, y podr\u00e1n proporcionar energ\u00eda durante 100\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">a\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">150 horas, seg\u00fan la configuraci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Eso es href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2542435119303009\"><em><span lang=\"en-GB\">Joule<\/span><\/em><\/a><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0encontr\u00f3 que por debajo de este costo, la combinaci\u00f3n de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda y energ\u00edas renovables podr\u00eda proporcionar energ\u00eda de carga de base confiable el 100\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">por ciento\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">del tiempo en lugares con abundante energ\u00eda renovable, como Texas y Arizona, lo que hace posible eliminar por completo con plantas de energ\u00eda de almacenamiento deseada.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Hasta ahora, la compa\u00f1\u00eda solo ha construido un prototipo de una sola celda de bater\u00eda, pero ya firm\u00f3 un acuerdo para un\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">proyecto piloto de\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">300\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">megavatios\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">con Great River Energy, con sede en Minnesota, que entrar\u00e1 en funcionamiento en 2023,\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rechargenews.com\/energy-transition\/worlds-cheapest-energy-storage-will-be-an-iron-air-battery-says-jeff-bezos-backed-start-up\/2-1-1044174\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">seg\u00fan\u00a0<\/span><em><span lang=\"en-GB\">Recharge News<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span lang=\"en-GB\">Tambi\u00e9n cuenta con un importante respaldo del\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">gigante\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">sider\u00fargico\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ArcelorMittal\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, que proporcionar\u00e1 las materias primas para sus bater\u00edas.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">La tecnolog\u00eda de
