Este es el prop\u00f3sito de una nueva nave espacial presentada por\u00a0Lockheed Martin<!--more-->,el gigante tecnol\u00f3gico estadounidense especializado en tecnolog\u00eda aerospacial y militar. Se trata del \u00abMars Base Camp\u00bb, una especie deEstaci\u00f3n Espacial Internacional marciana con capacidad para seis astronautas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abCreemos que orbitar Marte es el paso previo necesario antes de que los humanos aterricen en la superficie\u00bb, ha dicho en \u00abPopular Science\u00bb\u00a0Tony Antonelli, jefe de tecnolog\u00eda para la exploraci\u00f3n civil del espacio de Lockheed Martin y antiguo astronauta de la NASA. \u00abLa NASA tiene esto entre sus planes, y nosotros estamos simplemente colore\u00e1ndolos con detalles\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RsOvixkzZ_E\" width=\"843\" height=\"444\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>La propuesta de Lockheed Martin es que\u00a0la nave funcione en 2028, dos a\u00f1os antes de la fecha anunciada por la NASA para poner una tripulaci\u00f3n humana sobre la superficie del planeta. Para entonces, la compa\u00f1\u00eda espera haber lanzado los m\u00f3dulos de la nave de forma independiente, y luego haberlos ensamblado en la \u00f3rbita marciana o bien en la \u00f3rbita lunar.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque la NASA no ha encargado este dise\u00f1o, la compa\u00f1\u00eda espera que este prototipo ayude a que la agencia espacial cuente con ellos cuando los planes de aterrizar en Marte sean m\u00e1s s\u00f3lidos. De momento, la NASA est\u00e1 poniendo a punto un\u00a0cohete pesado, el SLS, y una c\u00e1psula para la tripulaci\u00f3n, la\u00a0Ori\u00f3n. Ambos ser\u00e1n lanzados al espacio en 2018, pero sin tripulaci\u00f3n a bordo.<\/p>\n<p>Los planes de la agencia espacial a\u00fan no han entrado a considerar c\u00f3mo ser\u00e1 el aterrizaje. Es ah\u00ed donde entra Lockheed Martin y su prototipo, como escala previa y necesaria al amartizaje. Seg\u00fan aseguran en la compa\u00f1\u00eda, la gran fortaleza del dise\u00f1o es que\u00a0se basa en tecnolog\u00eda totalmente operativa\u00a0y no en ciencia ficci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abTodas esas piezas existen hoy en d\u00eda\u00bb, ha dicho Antonelli en \u00abPopular Science\u00bb. \u00abEstamos aprovechando lo que ya tenemos\u00bb. En concreto, el \u00abMars Base Camp\u00bb se basa en la tecnolog\u00eda de las c\u00e1psulas Ori\u00f3n, en los cohetes SLS y en un sistema de paneles solares para alimentar la propulsi\u00f3n de la nave.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los planes de la compa\u00f1\u00eda, la estaci\u00f3n espacial podr\u00eda permitirle a los astronautas pasar entre 10 y 11 meses en \u00f3rbita, en un tiempo suficiente para explorar las lunas de Marte, Phobos y Demios, y operar naves y veh\u00edculos no tripulados en Marte.<\/p>\n<p>Teniendo en cuenta que hacen falta 20 minutos para que una onda de radio llegue desde la Tierra a Marte, parece muy interesante poder tener a una tripulaci\u00f3n a tiro de piedra del planeta rojo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abCreemos que tener a cient\u00edfcos directamente en la \u00f3rbita de Marte les permitir\u00e1, en solo unos meses,\u00a0hacer m\u00e1s avances cient\u00edficos marcianos que en los \u00faltimos 40 a\u00f1os\u00bb, ha dicho Antonelli.<\/p>\n<p>Lockheed Martin fue la primera en construir una nave capaz de aterrizar en Marte para la NASA, y ha formado parte de cada misi\u00f3n de la agencia desde entonces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antes de\u00a0poner el pie en Marte, los astronautas tendr\u00e1n que orbitar el planeta y estudiarlo con detenimiento.
