style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Pero hay quienes han encontrado el modo de aprovechar estos desechos y, al mismo tiempo, ofrecer una alternativa a los pl\u00e1sticos derivados del petr\u00f3leo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Investigadores del Instituto de Hortofruticultura Subtropical y Mediterr\u00e1nea \u00abLa Mayora\u00bb (IHSM) de M\u00e1laga llevan a\u00f1os trabajando con la piel de esta hortaliza (llamada &#8216;cutina&#8217;) para convertirla en un biopl\u00e1stico que pueda conservar los alimentos con las mismas garant\u00edas que el pl\u00e1stico convencional , que tarda 450 a\u00f1os en degradarse.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Los expertos extraen la celulosa de la piel del tomate de forma purificada para volver a rehacerla y darle la forma deseada<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Jos\u00e9 Alejandro Heredia, investigador responsable de dicho estudio, trabaja con la celulosa obtenida de estos restos para crear un material capaz de ser modificado con sustancias bioactivas antibacterianas y antioxidantes, obteniendo as\u00ed muchas propiedades para el envasado de alimentos y que, adem\u00e1s, demorar\u00eda tan solo un mes en descomponerse en el mar.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Seg\u00fan los investigadores de la IHSM, el proceso es ecol\u00f3gico y sostenible. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Se trata de descomponer las hojas, los tallos y la piel de los tomates extrayendo la celulosa de forma purificada para volver a rehacerla y darle la forma deseada calor. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A partir de esto, se crea una pel\u00edcula o papel film robusto y transparente con m\u00faltiples aplicaciones, explica a Efe Heredia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Con este biopl\u00e1stico, se pueden elaborar desde las bandejas para contener frutas o verduras que inundan los supermercados a utensilios de cocina, como cucharas. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Adem\u00e1s, puede utilizar para crear complementos como botones o adornos decorativos.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Este nuevo material cuenta con un sistema inteligente de envasado. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Seg\u00fan el estudio, si este pierde su color inicial, significa que ha absorbido agua y est\u00e1 perdiendo su estructura, por lo que est\u00e1 empezando a perder propiedades antioxidantes y dejando de ser \u00fatil. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Este proceso de decoloraci\u00f3n act\u00faa como una especie de sensor para mostrarnos que el biopl\u00e1stico est\u00e1 empezando a deteriorarse y hay que desecharlo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Tambi\u00e9n puede servir para recubrir el interior de productos no perecederos, como las latas de bebidas y de conservas, con el objetivo de hacerlos menos da\u00f1inos para la salud.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Este nuevo material cuenta tambi\u00e9n con un sistema inteligente de envasado<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Para ello, seg\u00fan han explicado los investigadores en la revista Carbohydrate polymers, se ha optimizado el proceso qu\u00edmico que permite que los componentes de la piel del tomate se adhieran mejor a la celulosa, compar\u00e1ndolo con el uso de peque\u00f1os trozos de lat\u00f3n lacado, el mismo componente que se encuentra dentro de estos recipientes. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Para la creaci\u00f3n de estos se utiliza un protocolo \u00abmuy sostenible\u00bb al que el cient\u00edfico denominaci\u00f3n \u00abqu\u00edmica verde\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Una vez finalizado el proceso de producci\u00f3n de este biopl\u00e1stico, el grupo de investigadores ha comprobado que es \u00abtan bueno como los envases comerciales actuales derivados del petr\u00f3leo, ya que consigue que el metal resista muy bien la corrosi\u00f3n y no migran hacia el alimento\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El problema, se\u00f1ala Heredia, es que para estos envases de biopl\u00e1stico sean aplicaciones en las industrias comerciales \u00abqueda mucho por recorrer\u00bb, ya que estas empresas necesitan utilizar la misma maquinaria para que sean econ\u00f3micamente viables. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Sin embargo, asegura el investigador, esto \u00absupondr\u00eda una revoluci\u00f3n para el medio ambiente y la sostenibilidad alimentaria\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span
