{"id":2568,"date":"2016-06-07T11:57:10","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T17:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=2568"},"modified":"2016-06-07T11:57:10","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T17:57:10","slug":"neurotoxinas-anemonas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/neurotoxinas-anemonas\/","title":{"rendered":"Investigan usos terap\u00e9uticos de neurotoxinas de an\u00e9monas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Investiga los mecanismos de acci\u00f3n de neurotoxinas presentes en an\u00e9monas de la costa yucateca para desarrollar nuevas aplicaciones farmacol\u00f3gicas, principalmente en el \u00e1rea de inmunolog\u00eda.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Las an\u00e9monas son organismos marinos presentes en la zona costera que usualmente est\u00e1n adheridas a las piedras y a los arrecifes. Algunos estudios han demostrado que tienen mol\u00e9culas de origen proteico, as\u00ed como neurotoxinas que, como parte de su mecanismo de acci\u00f3n, inhiben los canales de calcio (Ca), potasio (K) y sodio (Na).<\/p>\n<p>En entrevista con la Agencia Informativa Conacyt, Sergio Rodr\u00edguez Morales, investigador de la UMDI Sisal, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que en la literatura est\u00e1 reportado un nuevo f\u00e1rmaco llamado ShK-186 que est\u00e1 en pruebas cl\u00ednicas y que tiene un efecto de tipo inmunomodulador, es decir, modula la respuesta inmunol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Esta neurotoxina fue aislada de una an\u00e9mona llamada\u00a0Stichodactyla helianthus\u00a0y encontraron que lo que hace esta neurotoxina es inhibir el canal de potasio 1.2, que solamente est\u00e1 presente en los linfocitos T. Para que ocurra la respuesta inmune, los linfocitos T tienen que llegar y montar todas las reacciones espec\u00edficas, pero cuando esta sustancia se inyecta en una persona, los linfocitos T se paralizan por el efecto de inhibici\u00f3n de ese canal de potasio y de esta forma puede modularse la respuesta inmune&#8221;, indic\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Observando esta posibilidad, los cient\u00edficos de la UMDI Sisal se percataron de que en la costa yucateca estos f\u00e1rmacos no se han estudiado a\u00fan. &#8220;La idea es tratar de encontrar neurotoxinas o citolisinas que causen este tipo de inhibici\u00f3n para ver si se pueden emplear para tratar otras enfermedades&#8221;, indic\u00f3 el investigador.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Usos terap\u00e9uticos potenciales<\/h3>\n<p>Mediante diversas metodolog\u00edas se lleva a cabo una evaluaci\u00f3n de su potencial como antiparasitario y anticancer\u00edgeno. Tambi\u00e9n se realiza la separaci\u00f3n de sus componentes para conocer si tienen alguna actividad que pueda resultar interesante en t\u00e9rminos cient\u00edficos.<\/p>\n<p>En un programa de investigaci\u00f3n anterior se desarroll\u00f3 la separaci\u00f3n de polip\u00e9ptidos y prote\u00ednas, lo que sirvi\u00f3 como plataforma para estudiar las neurotoxinas de las an\u00e9monas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;La idea del proyecto es que ya que tengamos la neurotoxina tendremos que conocer cu\u00e1l es su mecanismo de acci\u00f3n para ver si puede tener un uso terap\u00e9utico selectivo, tal como esperamos, o de lo contrario, saber si se puede modificar&#8221;, apunt\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>En el proyecto participan investigadores de diversas disciplinas. El investigador Ricardo Gonz\u00e1lez Mu\u00f1oz se encarga de identificar y localizar las an\u00e9monas; el equipo de Rodr\u00edguez Morales las recolecta y las separa; mientras que la investigadora Rosa Moo Puc, del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), se dedica a realizar las pruebas de efectividad.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investiga los
