style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0es un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n de materiales que reutiliza la espuma de poliestireno desechada como alimento para los gusanos de la harina, y luego usa sus exoesqueletos como sus caparazones desechados.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Se ha descubierto que los gusanos de la harina pueden digerir sin problemas el poliestireno, y los biopol\u00edmeros hechos style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Chitofoam<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00bb toma un material de embalaje nocivo y lo regenera para crear una soluci\u00f3n circular para la gesti\u00f3n de residuos de espuma de poliestireno (\u00a1con la ayuda de los insectos!). <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Casi el 30% de los residuos de los vertederos es espuma de poliestireno procedente de envases y envases. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Estos residuos suelen acabar en los pa\u00edses en desarrollo y se gestionan mal. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El reciclaje es posible, pero rara vez se practica debido a que el proceso es caro, dificil y sin un mercado real.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La espuma de poliestireno no se biodegrada, sino que se rompe en trozos cada vez m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os, llamados \u00ab <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/que-son-los-microplasticos-y-como-nos-afectan\/\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">micropl\u00e1sticos<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00ab. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">S\u00f3lo los estadounidenses tiran cada a\u00f1o unos 25.000 millones de vasos de espuma de poliestireno. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Cada uno de estos vasos puede tardar hasta medio milenio en degradarse. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por lo tanto, los impactos de la producci\u00f3n y la contaminaci\u00f3n del poliestireno son m\u00faltiples y tienen efectos de gran alcance en el medio ambiente, las condiciones laborales y los factores de salud humana.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En 2015, los investigadores de la Universidad de Stanford descubrieron que los\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/gusanos-harina-son-capaces-eliminar-plastico\/\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">gusanos de la harina<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> , pod\u00edan digerir con seguridad, y por tanto biodegradar, la espuma de poliestireno. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Se descubri\u00f3 que\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">100 gusanos de la harina pueden comer 40 miligramos de espuma de poliestireno cada d\u00eda<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> sin ning\u00fan impacto en su salud.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Charlotte B\u00f6hning &amp; Mary Lempres, sacaron a depositar estos residuos de espuma de modelar y envases en un\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/biodigestor-casero\/\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">biodigestor casero<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0de gusanos de la harina para su despolimerizaci\u00f3n. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Empezamos a recoger los exoesqueletos que desprendimos los gusanos comedores de pl\u00e1stico y extrajeron un gel biopol\u00edmero llamado Chitosan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Despu\u00e9s de mucho desarrollo, cree un material de embalaje ligero, resistente al agua, que absorba los golpes y que se pueda\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecoinventos.com\/guia-para-el-compostaje-casero\/\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">compostar<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> \u00a0en el patio trasero, similar a la espuma de poliestireno.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Chitofoam se anticipa a los futuros desaf\u00edos mundiales de la escasez\/inseguridad alimentaria, la gesti\u00f3n inadecuada de los residuos y la acumulaci\u00f3n de micropl\u00e1sticos en nuestros ecosistemas. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Un hecho sorprendente sobre los gusanos de la harina que comen espuma de poliestireno es que siguen siendo 100% comestibles para los humanos. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">La cr\u00eda de gusanos de la harina se ha destacado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os como una soluci\u00f3n ambientalmente sostenible a la desnutrici\u00f3n, especialmente en las econom\u00edas rurales en desarrollo.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"
