Investigadores de la Universidad de Texas en Austin han encontrado una nueva forma de combatir atr\u00e1s, apuntando a una prote\u00edna que las bacterias usan para generar resistencia a los medicamentos.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El surgimiento de las superbacterias es un excelente ejemplo de la evoluci\u00f3n en acci\u00f3n.\u00a0Cuando un paciente toma antibi\u00f3ticos, la mayor\u00eda de las bacterias que lo infectan sucumben al entorno desafiante que crean estos medicamentos, la mayor\u00eda, pero no todas.\u00a0Los pocos que sobreviven se reproducen, transmitiendo las mutaciones aleatorias que los ayudaron a superar la terrible experiencia.\u00a0Las bacterias tambi\u00e9n pueden intercambiar estos genes \u00fatiles como cromos, creando en \u00faltima instancia una poblaci\u00f3n resistente a los medicamentos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La creaci\u00f3n de\u00a0<a class=\"Link\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/leaf-bacteria-superbug-antibiotic\/55671\/?itm_source=newatlas&amp;itm_medium=article-body\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">nuevos medicamentos<\/a>\u00a0puede ser efectiva por un tiempo, pero eventualmente las bacterias tambi\u00e9n desarrollan resistencia a ellos.\u00a0Quiz\u00e1s la mejor manera de contraatacar ser\u00eda prevenir el desarrollo de resistencia en primer lugar, permitiendo que los antibi\u00f3ticos existentes vuelvan a ser efectivos.\u00a0Investigaciones recientes han producido\u00a0<a class=\"Link\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/molecule-weakens-superbugs-immunity-antibiotics\/47483\/?itm_source=newatlas&amp;itm_medium=article-body\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">mol\u00e9culas<\/a>\u00a0que descomponen las prote\u00ednas que las bacterias usan para neutralizar las drogas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El problema es que estas mol\u00e9culas generalmente se dirigen\u00a0<a class=\"Link\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/medical\/superbugs-antibiotics-carbapenem-new-drug\/?itm_source=newatlas&amp;itm_medium=article-body\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">a prote\u00ednas individuales<\/a>\u00a0despu\u00e9s de que los insectos las producen, lo que limita el alcance del tratamiento.\u00a0Entonces, para el nuevo estudio, los investigadores buscaron una forma m\u00e1s fundamental de desactivar la producci\u00f3n de estas prote\u00ednas de resistencia en primer lugar.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\" prote\u00ednas de resistencia deben plegarse en formas muy espec\u00edficas, y los investigadores descubrieron que otra prote\u00edna, llamada DsbA, ayuda a realizar ese plegamiento.\u00a0Entonces, razon\u00f3 el equipo, apuntar a DsbA deber\u00eda detener efectivamente la producci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas de resistencia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Efectivamente, cuando los investigadores inhibieron DsbA en bacterias, se volvieron vulnerables a los antibi\u00f3ticos existentes una vez m\u00e1s.\u00a0Es importante destacar que funcion\u00f3 en una variedad de bacterias peligrosas, como\u00a0<i>E. coli, K. pneumoniae y P. aeruginosa,<\/i> que en conjunto representan una gran parte de las infecciones por superbacterias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNuestros hallazgos muestran que al enfocarse en la formaci\u00f3n de enlaces disulfuro y el plegamiento de prote\u00ednas, es posible revertir la resistencia a los antibi\u00f3ticos en varios de los principales pat\u00f3genos y mecanismos de resistencia\u201d, dijo Christopher Furniss, coautor principal del estudio.\u00a0&#8220;Esto significa que el desarrollo de inhibidores de DsbA cl\u00ednicamente \u00fatiles en el futuro podr\u00eda ofrecer una nueva forma de tratar las infecciones resistentes utilizando los antibi\u00f3ticos actualmente disponibles&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">En este trabajo, el equipo inhibi\u00f3 DsbA utilizando sustancias qu\u00edmicas que no son seguras para su uso en humanos, pero tras demostrar que el mecanismo funciona, el siguiente paso de los investigadores es buscar
