{"id":2641,"date":"2016-06-16T17:19:45","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T23:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=2641"},"modified":"2016-06-16T17:19:45","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T23:19:45","slug":"este-motor-de-combustion-ruso-del-tamano-de-un-iphone-tiene-5-cv-y-puede-impulsar-un-kart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/tech\/este-motor-de-combustion-ruso-del-tamano-de-un-iphone-tiene-5-cv-y-puede-impulsar-un-kart\/","title":{"rendered":"Este motor de combusti\u00f3n ruso del tama\u00f1o de un iPhone tiene 5 CV y puede impulsar un kart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cada cierto tiempo alguien inventa un nuevo tipo de motor con la idea de revolucionar el mercado automovil\u00edstico.<!--more--> El ingeniero mec\u00e1nico ruso Nikolai Shkolnik ten\u00eda otra idea en mente, y quiz\u00e1 por ello su motor de apenas dos kilos de peso ya cuenta con el respaldo de la mism\u00edsima agencia DARPA.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/sp4m5py6tqefpbbwjfjy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2643 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/sp4m5py6tqefpbbwjfjy.jpg\" alt=\"sp4m5py6tqefpbbwjfjy\" width=\"615\" height=\"456\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>El motor se llama Liquid Piston, y es un nombre curioso porque lo que hace es precisamente prescindir de los pistones que impulsan los motores de combusti\u00f3n convencionales. En su lugar utiliza un rotor exc\u00e9ntrico que gira dentro de una c\u00e1mara. En cada giro, el rotor deja entrar la mezcla de aire y combustible, la comprime y la prende, creando varias c\u00e1maras que se expanden y contraen alternativamente.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/64911927\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>La idea no es nueva. El\u00a0motor Wankel\u00a0de 1924 es el motor de tipo rotatorio m\u00e1s conocido que existe, pero tiene bastantes inconvenientes. Entre ellos est\u00e1 un mayor coste de mantenimiento y mayores emisiones contaminantes.<\/p>\n<p>Nikolai Shkolnik le dio la vuelta al motor Wankel, y lo hizo literalmente. En lugar de un rotor triangular en una c\u00e1mara redondeada, su dise\u00f1o se bas\u00f3 en un rotor redondeado en una c\u00e1mara de corte triangular. El resultado de ese cambio es que permite un mayor ratio de compresi\u00f3n en cada c\u00e1mara y evita que el gas pase de una a otra. En esencia elimina los problemas del Wankel.<\/p>\n<p>Comparado con un motor de combusti\u00f3n de la misma potencia, el Liquid Piston X-Mini es un 20% m\u00e1s eficiente desde el punto de vista de consumo de combustible. Adem\u00e1s, su construcci\u00f3n tiene menos partes m\u00f3viles por lo que no vibra tanto. La ventaja m\u00e1s poderosa es su tama\u00f1o y peso. La versi\u00f3n de cinco caballos de potencia tiene una altura poco m\u00e1s grande que la de un iPhone 6 (16,7 x 15,7 x 13,7 cm) y pesa solo 1,8 kilos. Un motor de cortac\u00e9sped con esa potencia ronda los 14 kilos.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto de Nikolai Shkolnik lo continu\u00f3 su hijo Alec, un ingeniero en computaci\u00f3n especializado en Inteligencia Artificial. El m\u00e9rito de Alec es haber convertido el motor en una alternativa comercial viable tras\u00a0a\u00f1os de desarrollo, y para ello lo que ha hecho ha sido ignorar por completo el mercado automovil\u00edstico.<\/p>\n<p>Suena a desprop\u00f3sito, pero no lo es. Alec Shkolnik reconoce que, aunque el Liquid Piston est\u00e1 muy avanzado, es probable que no est\u00e9 preparado para superar pruebas de rendimiento obligatorias en la industria del autom\u00f3vil como el est\u00e1ndar de durabilidad de 100.000 millas.\u00a0\u201cMuchas personas tratan de vender inmediatamente sus motores mejorados a la industria del autom\u00f3vil\u201dexplica Shkolnik en una entrevista a\u00a0IEEE Spectrum.\u00a0\u201cNo puedo culparlos, porque es un mercado de 300.000 millones de d\u00f3lares. El problema es que hacer realidad un proyecto semejante requiere al menos 7 a\u00f1os de pruebas y 500 millones de d\u00f3lares, y eso en un motor convencional donde el riesgo es m\u00e1s bajo\u201d.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-g4dKZTnxHo\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>En lugar de apuntar tan alto, Shkolnik ha perfeccionado un motor de cortac\u00e9sped que pesa apenas dos kilos. El prototipo ya ha despertado el inter\u00e9s de la agencia DARPA, que lo ha financiado para dar vida a drones de tama\u00f1o medio. Lo mejor del asunto es que los militares no tienen el juguete en exclusiva. Si eres un entusiasta de la ingenier\u00eda puedes comprar un\u00a0kit de desarrollo\u00a0del Liquid Piston hoy mismo desde su p\u00e1gina web. Tener la motosierra m\u00e1s ligera y potente del planeta solo te costar\u00e1 30.000 d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfVeremos un motor como este en autom\u00f3viles dentro de unos a\u00f1os? Con el auge de los veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos no parece probable, pero todo puede pasar. Seg\u00fan sus inventores, el sistema es escalable hasta los 1.000 caballos de potencia.
