{"id":27260,"date":"2022-05-30T08:46:47","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T14:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=27260"},"modified":"2022-05-30T08:46:47","modified_gmt":"2022-05-30T14:46:47","slug":"una-nueva-tecnologia-usa-nanoparticulas-magneticas-para-extraer-el-litio-del-agua","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/una-nueva-tecnologia-usa-nanoparticulas-magneticas-para-extraer-el-litio-del-agua\/","title":{"rendered":"Una nueva tecnolog\u00eda usa nanopart\u00edculas magn\u00e9ticas para extraer el litio del agua"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Investigadores del Laboratorio Nacional del Noroeste del Pac\u00edfico (PNNL) desarrollaron una tecnolog\u00eda que utiliza nanopart\u00edculas magn\u00e9ticas para capturar materiales cr\u00edticos, como el litio, de diversas fuentes de agua.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Las nanopart\u00edculas magn\u00e9ticas est\u00e1n rodeadas por una cubierta adsorbente que se adhiere al litio y a otros metales presentes en el agua asociados a diversos procesos industriales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El litio se encuentra en el agua de las centrales geot\u00e9rmicas o en el agua que se extrae del subsuelo durante la producci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas, por lo que la extracci\u00f3n del metal podr\u00eda aumentar la rentabilidad de la producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda. Las nanopart\u00edculas tambi\u00e9n pueden utilizarse en los efluentes de las plantas desalinizadoras e incluso directamente del agua de mar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Una vez que se a\u00f1aden las diminutas part\u00edculas con base de hierro al agua, el litio se extrae del agua y se une a ellas. Luego, con la ayuda de un im\u00e1n, las nanopart\u00edculas pueden recogerse en cuesti\u00f3n de minutos y el litio queda suspendido en el l\u00edquido y listo para su extracci\u00f3n. Una vez extra\u00eddo el litio, las nanopart\u00edculas recargadas pueden volver a utilizarse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Esta tecnolog\u00eda ofrece una alternativa prometedora a los m\u00e9todos de extracci\u00f3n convencionales que bombean las aguas subterr\u00e1neas a grandes y costosas balsas de evaporaci\u00f3n. Esos procesos pueden durar meses o incluso a\u00f1os y repercutir en la gesti\u00f3n de las aguas subterr\u00e1neas en las regiones \u00e1ridas donde se despliegan principalmente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Si esta tecnolog\u00eda se desplegara en las plantas geot\u00e9rmicas, el valor del litio recuperado podr\u00eda aumentar potencialmente la rentabilidad de esta forma de energ\u00eda renovable, que utiliza el agua para capturar el calor de las profundidades de la superficie terrestre y luego lo convierte en electricidad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El PNNL sigue desarrollando esta tecnolog\u00eda en colaboraci\u00f3n con Moselle Technologies, que ha obtenido la licencia y tiene previsto implantarla en varios lugares. Adem\u00e1s, los cient\u00edficos est\u00e1n realizando pruebas en yacimientos de petr\u00f3leo y gas y colaboran con otros socios para evaluar el uso comercial de la tecnolog\u00eda en Nevada y Canad\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How PNNL Extracts Rare Earth Elements from Geothermal Brine\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/ceX_bO3L0Po?feature=oembed\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Los investigadores del PNNL tienen la intenci\u00f3n de personalizar la envoltura de la nanopart\u00edcula para que se dirija espec\u00edficamente a otros elementos y minerales de valor comercial y de importancia estrat\u00e9gica utilizados en tecnolog\u00edas energ\u00e9ticas, dispositivos de imagen m\u00e9dica, electr\u00f3nica y otras aplicaciones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El novedoso enfoque del PNNL es realmente extraordinario. Ofrece la promesa de extraer minerales cr\u00edticos de forma r\u00e1pida y rentable.
