{"id":27928,"date":"2022-09-08T08:58:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T14:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=27928"},"modified":"2022-09-08T08:58:23","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T14:58:23","slug":"el-oceano-antartico-absorbe-la-mayor-parte-del-calor-del-planeta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ecologia\/el-oceano-antartico-absorbe-la-mayor-parte-del-calor-del-planeta\/","title":{"rendered":"El Oc\u00e9ano Ant\u00e1rtico absorbe la mayor parte del calor del planeta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El oc\u00e9ano Ant\u00e1rtico ha absorbido en los \u00faltimos cincuenta a\u00f1os la mayor parte del exceso del calor que se queda atrapada en la atm\u00f3sfera, mitigando as\u00ed los efectos de la crisis clim\u00e1tica, aunque a un coste muy alto para los ecosistemas, informan este jueves fuentes acad\u00e9micas.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Los oc\u00e9anos han contribuido desde hace 50 a\u00f1os a\u00a0reducir los efectos del calentamiento global\u00a0porque absorben el 40 por ciento de las emisiones de di\u00f3xido de carbono del planeta, as\u00ed como el 90 por ciento del exceso del calor que se queda atrapada en la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">En este escenario, &#8220;el oc\u00e9ano Ant\u00e1rtico domina la captaci\u00f3n de calor de los oc\u00e9anos,\u00a0en parte por la configuraci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica de la regi\u00f3n&#8221;, dijo hoy el autor del estudio Maurice Huguenin, en un comunicado de la\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unsw.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Universidad de Nueva Gales del Sur (UNSW)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>El efecto de los vientos occidentales<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Una de las razones es que los vientos occidentales que soplan con fuerza en la Ant\u00e1rtida provocan desplazamientos de las aguas fr\u00edas a la superficie y las empuja hacia el norte, donde absorben grandes cantidades de calor de la atm\u00f3sfera antes de hundirse a las profundidades marinas cerca de la Corriente Circumpolar Ant\u00e1rtica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pero el estudio, publicado la v\u00edspera en la revista cient\u00edfica\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/ncomms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nature Communications<\/a>, advierte de que este calentamiento de las aguas ya est\u00e1 pasando una factura muy cara a la humanidad dado que se necesitar\u00e1n miles de a\u00f1os para que ese calor atrapado en sus profundidades marinas sea devuelto a la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;El nivel del mar aumenta, los glaciales se derriten,\u00a0los ecosistemas experimentan estr\u00e9s por el calor\u00a0y aumenta la frecuencia de los eventos clim\u00e1ticos extremos&#8221;, record\u00f3 en el comunicado el coautor del estudio, el acad\u00e9mico de la UNSW Matthew England, al referirse al impacto del calentamiento de los oc\u00e9anos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Derretimiento de las plataformas de hielo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Los cient\u00edficos tambi\u00e9n prev\u00e9n que pesar de que el oc\u00e9ano Ant\u00e1rtico representa un 15 % de la masa oce\u00e1nica, su calentamiento producir\u00e1 alteraciones de la red alimentaria de esa regi\u00f3n, as\u00ed como el derretimiento de las plataformas de hielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida, entre otros hechos que repercutir\u00e1n en todo el mundo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lo que es preocupante para los cient\u00edficos de este estudio, que analiza el rol de los oc\u00e9anos en la absorci\u00f3n del calor en los \u00faltimos 50 a\u00f1os mediante modelos, es que las proyecciones cient\u00edficas m\u00e1s optimistas -con un\u00a0escenario de calentamiento global de 1,5 grados-, suponen un calentamiento de los oc\u00e9anos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Por ello, Huguenin advirti\u00f3 de que si el oc\u00e9ano Ant\u00e1rtico &#8220;sigue siendo el responsable de la mayor parte de la captaci\u00f3n de calor hasta el a\u00f1o 2100, podr\u00edamos ver c\u00f3mo\u00a0su calor aumenta hasta siete veces m\u00e1s\u00a0de lo que ya hemos visto hasta hoy&#8221;.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fuente:<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>m, M.
