{"id":28029,"date":"2022-09-28T09:09:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T15:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=28029"},"modified":"2022-09-28T09:09:38","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T15:09:38","slug":"nueva-camara-submarina-sin-baterias-se-alimenta-del-sonido","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/tech\/nueva-camara-submarina-sin-baterias-se-alimenta-del-sonido\/","title":{"rendered":"Nueva c\u00e1mara submarina sin bater\u00edas se alimenta del sonido"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-drop-cap\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Investigadores del MIT han desarrollado una c\u00e1mara subacu\u00e1tica inal\u00e1mbrica sin bater\u00eda, que se alimenta del sonido, y es 100.000 veces m\u00e1s eficiente energ\u00e9ticamente que otras c\u00e1maras submarinas.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se estima que m\u00e1s del 95 por ciento de los oc\u00e9anos de la Tierra nunca ha sido observado, lo que significa que hemos visto menos \u00e1rea de los oc\u00e9anos de nuestro planeta que del lado oculto de la luna o la superficie de Marte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El alto costo de alimentar una c\u00e1mara submarina durante mucho tiempo, at\u00e1ndola a un barco de investigaci\u00f3n o enviando un barco para recargar sus bater\u00edas, es un gran desaf\u00edo que impide la exploraci\u00f3n submarina generalizada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero el nuevo dispositivo de alta autonom\u00eda toma fotograf\u00edas en color, incluso en entornos submarinos oscuros, y transmite datos de im\u00e1genes de forma inal\u00e1mbrica a trav\u00e9s del agua.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La c\u00e1mara aut\u00f3noma funciona con sonido. Convierte la energ\u00eda mec\u00e1nica de las ondas de sonido que viajan a trav\u00e9s del agua en energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica que alimenta su equipo de im\u00e1genes y comunicaciones. Despu\u00e9s de capturar y codificar los datos de la imagen, la c\u00e1mara tambi\u00e9n usa ondas de sonido para transmitir datos a un receptor que reconstruye la imagen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Debido a que no necesita una fuente de energ\u00eda, la c\u00e1mara podr\u00eda funcionar durante semanas antes de recuperarla, lo que permite a los cient\u00edficos buscar nuevas especies en partes remotas del oc\u00e9ano. Tambi\u00e9n podr\u00eda usarse para capturar im\u00e1genes de la contaminaci\u00f3n del oc\u00e9ano o monitorear la salud y el crecimiento de los peces criados en granjas acu\u00edcolas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abPersonalmente, una de las aplicaciones m\u00e1s emocionantes de esta c\u00e1mara es en el contexto de la vigilancia del clima. Estamos construyendo modelos clim\u00e1ticos, pero nos faltan datos de m\u00e1s del 95 por ciento del oc\u00e9ano. Esta tecnolog\u00eda podr\u00eda ayudarnos a construir modelos clim\u00e1ticos m\u00e1s precisos y comprender mejor c\u00f3mo el cambio clim\u00e1tico afecta el mundo submarino\u00bb, dice en un comunicado Fadel Adib, profesor asociado en el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda El\u00e9ctrica y Ciencias de la Computaci\u00f3n y director del grupo Signal Kinetics en el MIT Media Lab. y autor principal del art\u00edculo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para construir una c\u00e1mara que pudiera funcionar de forma aut\u00f3noma durante largos per\u00edodos, los investigadores necesitaban un dispositivo que pudiera recolectar energ\u00eda bajo el agua por s\u00ed solo y consumiendo muy poca energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La c\u00e1mara adquiere energ\u00eda mediante transductores hechos de materiales piezoel\u00e9ctricos que se colocan alrededor de su exterior. Los materiales piezoel\u00e9ctricos producen una se\u00f1al el\u00e9ctrica cuando se les aplica una fuerza mec\u00e1nica. Cuando una onda de sonido que viaja a trav\u00e9s del agua golpea los transductores, estos vibran y convierten esa energ\u00eda mec\u00e1nica en energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esas ondas de sonido pueden provenir de cualquier fuente, como un barco que pasa o vida marina. La c\u00e1mara almacena la energ\u00eda recolectada hasta que se acumula lo suficiente para alimentar los componentes electr\u00f3nicos que toman fotos y comunican datos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para mantener el consumo de energ\u00eda lo m\u00e1s bajo posible, los investigadores utilizaron sensores de imagen de potencia ultrabaja listos para usar. Pero estos sensores solo capturan im\u00e1genes en escala de grises.
