{"id":28427,"date":"2023-02-07T09:58:42","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T15:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=28427"},"modified":"2023-02-07T09:58:49","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T15:58:49","slug":"investigadores-desarrollan-un-material-elastico-impermeable-a-gases-y-liquidos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/ciencia\/investigadores-desarrollan-un-material-elastico-impermeable-a-gases-y-liquidos\/","title":{"rendered":"Investigadores desarrollan un material el\u00e1stico impermeable a gases y l\u00edquidos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-drop-cap\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un equipo internacional de investigadores ha desarrollado una t\u00e9cnica que utiliza metal l\u00edquido para crear un material el\u00e1stico impermeable a gases y l\u00edquidos, que podr\u00eda usarse como envoltorio para tecnolog\u00edas de alto valor que requieren protecci\u00f3n frente a los gases, como las bater\u00edas flexibles.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abSe trata de un paso importante porque durante mucho tiempo ha existido una disyuntiva entre la elasticidad y la impermeabilidad a los gases\u00bb, afirma Michael Dickey, coautor de un art\u00edculo sobre la investigaci\u00f3n y catedr\u00e1tico Camille &amp; Henry Dreyfus de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica y Biomolecular de la Universidad Estatal de Carolina del Norte (Estados Unidos).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abB\u00e1sicamente, las cosas que eran buenas para mantener los gases fuera tend\u00edan a ser duras y r\u00edgidas. Y lo que ofrec\u00eda elasticidad permit\u00eda que los gases se filtraran\u00bb, se\u00f1ala Dickey. \u201cNosotros hemos creado algo que ofrece la elasticidad deseada y a la vez que impide la entrada de gases\u00bb, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Una aleaci\u00f3n de galio e indio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La nueva t\u00e9cnica utiliza una aleaci\u00f3n eut\u00e9ctica de galio e indio (EGaIn). Eut\u00e9ctico significa que la aleaci\u00f3n tiene un punto de fusi\u00f3n inferior al de sus componentes. En este caso, el EGaIn es l\u00edquido a temperatura ambiente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores crearon una fina pel\u00edcula de EGaIn y la envolvieron en un pol\u00edmero el\u00e1stico. La superficie interior del pol\u00edmero se recubri\u00f3 con microesferas de vidrio, de este modo imped\u00eda que la pel\u00edcula l\u00edquida de EGaIn se acumulara. El resultado final es una bolsa el\u00e1stica revestida de metal l\u00edquido que no permite la entrada ni la salida de gases ni l\u00edquidos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores comprobaron la eficacia del nuevo material evaluando hasta qu\u00e9 punto permit\u00eda la evaporaci\u00f3n del contenido l\u00edquido y hasta d\u00f3nde permit\u00eda la fuga de ox\u00edgeno de un recipiente sellado fabricado con el material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abDescubrimos que no se produc\u00eda ninguna p\u00e9rdida apreciable de l\u00edquido ni de ox\u00edgeno con el nuevo material\u00bb, afirma Tao Deng, coautor y profesor de la c\u00e1tedra Zhi Yuan de la Universidad Jiao Tong de Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Un alto coste de los metales l\u00edquidos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el aspecto econ\u00f3mico de este descubrimiento, los investigadores son conscientes de los costes asociados a la fabricaci\u00f3n del nuevo material. \u00abLos metales l\u00edquidos son bastante caros\u201d, indica Deng. \u201cDe momento, un solo paquete costar\u00eda unos pocos d\u00f3lares, pero no intentamos optimizar el coste, as\u00ed que hay camino por recorrer para abaratarlo\u00bb, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores est\u00e1n estudiando opciones de ensayo para determinar si el material es realmente una barrera a\u00fan m\u00e1s eficaz de lo que han podido demostrar hasta ahora. \u00abB\u00e1sicamente, hemos llegado al l\u00edmite del equipo de pruebas de que dispon\u00edamos\u00bb, reconoce Dickey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEstamos buscando socios industriales para explorar posibles aplicaciones de este trabajo. Las bater\u00edas flexibles para su uso con electr\u00f3nica blanda es una aplicaci\u00f3n obvia, pero otros dispositivos que utilizan l\u00edquidos o son sensibles al ox\u00edgeno se
