Por ejemplo, el bloqueo de muchas se\u00f1ales de radio no deseadas puede afectar los tel\u00e9fonos que hoy se usan en Espa\u00f1a y el resto del mundo, como a los aviones. Para este problema un equipo de investigadores ha encontrado un ingenioso m\u00e9todo para crear chips m\u00e1s baratos pero tambi\u00e9n m\u00e1s eficientes a la hora de bloquear estas se\u00f1ales.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Las multitudes pueden agobiar tanto a personas como a sus smartphones. Imagina estar en un concierto repleto de p\u00fablico, con miles de personas rode\u00e1ndote y subiendo fotos a las redes sociales o escribiendo mensajes. Todas esas se\u00f1ales de radiofrecuencia que salen y llegan a sus m\u00f3viles se traducen en interferencias en los dispositivos de los dem\u00e1s, como el tuyo. Otro efecto desagradable es que la bater\u00eda empieza a agotarse y el dispositivo se ralentiza intentando bloquear la lluvia de se\u00f1ales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Los dispositivos actuales cuentan con t\u00e9cnicas para filtrar esa ingente variedad de se\u00f1ales que les llegan. No obstante, los circuitos utilizados son voluminosos y aumentan los costes de producci\u00f3n. Por este motivo, los investigadores del MIT han querido dar con una soluci\u00f3n.\u00bbQueremos circuitos elegantes y sencillos, intentamos crear hardware multifuncional que no requiera potencia adicional ni espacio del chip\u00bb, dice Negar Reiskarimian, miembro principal de la facultad de Microsystems Technology Laboratories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El equipo ha presentado en la Conferencia Internacional de Circuitos de Estado S\u00f3lido, una arquitectura de circuito que puede apuntar y bloquear las se\u00f1ales no deseadas en la entrada del receptor de forma m\u00e1s contundentes. As\u00ed, en el futuro los tel\u00e9fonos ser\u00e1n m\u00e1s eficientes buscando cobertura para hablar por tel\u00e9fono o chatear entre grandes aglomeraciones, al mismo tiempo que su bater\u00eda resiste m\u00e1s intacta a lo que ahora supone un gran esfuerzo para los terminales actuales. Se acab\u00f3 quedarse sin bater\u00eda realizando una llamada que se entrecorta por las interferencias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El resultado es un chip receptor, que funcion\u00f3 en las pruebas unas 40 veces mejor que otros receptores de banda ancha a la hora de bloquear un tipo especial de interferencia por ondas arm\u00f3nicas. Otra de las ventajas es que el invento no requiere ning\u00fan hardware o circuito adicional. Esto se traduce en un chip mucho m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de fabricar a gran escala, permitiendo que su precio final sea m\u00e1s barato.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bajar la frecuencia, clave<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Para empezar, cuando el dispositivo recibe una se\u00f1al, se baja la frecuencia de la misma antes de hacerla pasar por el convertidor que traduce la se\u00f1al de anal\u00f3gica a digital y extrae la informaci\u00f3n que transporta. Este paso previo permite cubrir un amplio rango de frecuencias mientras el dispositivo filtra las dem\u00e1s interferencias, salvo la que implica ondas arm\u00f3nicas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Desde el MIT explican que este problema arm\u00f3nico provoca que los receptores sean susceptibles a las se\u00f1ales cuyas frecuencias son m\u00faltiplos de la frecuencia a la que opera el dispositivo. Es decir, si el receptor del m\u00f3vil funciona a 1 gigahercio (Ghz), las se\u00f1ales de 2, 3 y 5 Ghz provocar\u00e1n en \u00e9l interferencias de ondas arm\u00f3nicas. \u00abMuchos otros receptores de banda ancha no hacen nada con los arm\u00f3nicos hasta que llega el momento de ver qu\u00e9 significan los bits. En su lugar, queremos eliminarlos lo antes posible para evitar perder informaci\u00f3n\u00bb, dice Soroush Araei, estudiante graduado en EECS y principal autor de este trabajo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Para realizar esa conversi\u00f3n de frecuencia la mayor\u00eda de receptores de radio ya utilizan circuitos de condensadores conmutados, que es la base utilizada por los investigadores del MIT. Los condensadores, que contienen cargas el\u00e9ctricas, se cargan en diferentes momentos seg\u00fan se recibe la se\u00f1al, despu\u00e9s se desconectan para que la carga pueda mantenerse y usarse m\u00e1s tarde al procesar los datos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lo importante aqu\u00ed, es que la posici\u00f3n de los condensadores puede ser tanto beneficiosa como perjudicial. Si se conectan en paralelo pueden intercambiar las cargas almacenadas y esquivar la interferencia arm\u00f3nica, pero se pierde una parte significativa de la se\u00f1al. Por el contrario, al apilarlos no se consigue resiliencia arm\u00f3nica. \u00bfLa soluci\u00f3n? Usar ambas opciones a la vez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Un reto t\u00e9cnico<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El equipo opt\u00f3 por sumar ambas fuerzas m\u00e1s para reforzar el resultado en lo que se denomina filtrado por bloques. Se generan bloques de condensadores en paralelo y otros apilados en series. Hasta ahora nunca antes de hab\u00edan sumado ambos procesos. Los investigadores descubrieron que la disposici\u00f3n de los condensadores en serie para luego compartir la carga en paralelo, permiti\u00f3 que el dispositivo bloqueara la interferencia arm\u00f3nica sin perder ninguna informaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00abLa gente ha usado estas t\u00e9cnicas, carga compartida y apilamiento de condensadores, por separado antes, pero nunca juntas. Descubrimos que ambas t\u00e9cnicas deben realizarse simult\u00e1neamente para obtener este beneficio\u00bb, explican. Adem\u00e1s de esta ventaja, la t\u00e9cnica desarrollada, permite hacerlo de forma pasiva dentro del mezclador para no necesita hardware adicional y reducir el coste de fabricaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Probaron el dispositivo enviando simult\u00e1neamente una se\u00f1al deseada e interferencia arm\u00f3nica. Su chip pudo bloquear las se\u00f1ales arm\u00f3nicas de manera efectiva con solo una ligera reducci\u00f3n en la intensidad de la se\u00f1al.
