Se trata de la planta Hermes 2<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0ubicada en Oak Ridge, Tennessee, que comenzar\u00e1 operaciones en 2030 y suministrar\u00e1 50 megavatios (MW) de\u00a0energ\u00eda limpia\u00a0a la red de TVA.<\/p>\n<p>Con este acuerdo de compra de energ\u00eda, Google se convertir\u00e1 en la primera empresa en adquirir electricidad proveniente de un\u00a0reactor GEN IV\u00a0a trav\u00e9s de una compa\u00f1\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica en el pa\u00eds. La energ\u00eda abastecer\u00e1 directamente a sus Centros de Datos en el condado de Montgomery, Tennessee y el condado de Jackson en Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>La colaboraci\u00f3n forma parte de un plan iniciado en 2023, con el que Google y Kairos Power buscan desplegar hasta 500 MW de capacidad nuclear modular para el sistema el\u00e9ctrico estadounidense. El modelo contempla una soluci\u00f3n tripartita en la que clientes de energ\u00eda, empresas de servicios p\u00fablicos y desarrolladores tecnol\u00f3gicos comparten costos, riesgos y beneficios para acelerar la adopci\u00f3n de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas energ\u00e9ticas.<\/p>\n<p>Don Moul, CEO de TVA, destac\u00f3 que la energ\u00eda nuclear es la base del futuro de la seguridad energ\u00e9tica. \u201cQue Google ayude a asumir parte del costo y riesgo de estos proyectos pioneros no s\u00f3lo ayuda a la empresa, tambi\u00e9n a los 10 millones de clientes de TVA y a Estados Unidos\u201d, dijo.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de proveer energ\u00eda limpia, la planta Hermes 2 busca reactivar a Oak Ridge como centro de innovaci\u00f3n nuclear.
