{"id":3087,"date":"2016-08-18T12:21:30","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T18:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=3087"},"modified":"2016-08-18T12:21:30","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T18:21:30","slug":"mucilago-de-nopal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/biotecnologia\/mucilago-de-nopal\/","title":{"rendered":"Con 0.4 gr de mucilago de nopal, investigadores logran purificar agua residual"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>En el mundo, cuatro mil millones personas sufren de escasez de agua al menos un mes al a\u00f1o, de acuerdo a datos del Foro Econ\u00f3mico Mundial. <!--more-->Ante este panorama, investigadores del Colegio de Estudios Cient\u00edficos y Tecnol\u00f3gicos de Hidalgo (CECyTE) desarrollaron un m\u00e9todo para purificar agua residual a partir de la baba del nopal.<\/p>\n<p>La innovaci\u00f3n es mucilago o baba de nopal deshidratado que purifica el agua pr\u00e1cticamente al instante. \u201cSolo se necesita agregar el polvo, agitar, esperar 10 minutos y filtrar, si se desea; de esta forma queda listo el l\u00edquido para beber. Adem\u00e1s, por cada litro de agua se ocupa 0.4 gramos de mucilago\u201d, detall\u00f3 la bi\u00f3loga Blanca Esthela Olgu\u00edn G\u00e1lvez, investigadora del CECyTE.<\/p>\n<p>Explic\u00f3 que para obtener el polvo se realiza un proceso qu\u00edmico que dura 48 horas, donde se extrae la baba del nopal y se elimina la fibra con diversos solventes, despu\u00e9s se deshidrata para finalmente obtener la sustancia en polvo.<\/p>\n<p>El desarrollo, que ya cuenta con patente, es econ\u00f3mico porque se aprovecha la gran producci\u00f3n de nopal que tiene M\u00e9xico. \u201cPor cada kilogramo de nopal se obtiene 1.2 gramos de mucilago puro\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, las pruebas se realizaron en tres tipos de agua; de pozos, manantiales y de la llave, \u201cse les aplicaron estudios fisicoqu\u00edmicos y se encontraron bacterias, sales minerales y metales pesados como selenio y plomo, que al agregarle el mucilago se lograron eliminar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La eficacia del mucilago es igual a la otorgada por el \u00f3xido de aluminio, mineral que se utiliza en las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales y albercas para evitar la formaci\u00f3n de g\u00e9rmenes y algas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl mucilago es una red de carbohidratos, lo que hace es atrapar las sustancias org\u00e1nicas disuelta. En algunos estudios nacionales se ha descubierto que en nuestro organismo limpia las impurezas, forma una red molecular que las atrae; incluso, el agua podr\u00eda consumirse con todo y esta sustancia, pero lo ideal es eliminarlo\u201d, mencion\u00f3 Olgu\u00edn G\u00e1lvez.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto inici\u00f3 desde 2011 y diversos estudiantes han colaborado, entre ellos Carlos L\u00f3pez Mej\u00eda, alumno de CECyTE, quien ingres\u00f3 a la carrera de ingenier\u00eda civil en el IPN y continu\u00f3 con el desarrollo.<\/p>\n<p>En esta instituci\u00f3n realiz\u00f3 un plan de negocios en la incubadora y cre\u00f3 Nopalpure Organic, a fin de comercializar la innovaci\u00f3n, reducir el consumo de agua embotellada en el pa\u00eds y llevar el producto vital a regiones de escasos recursos.<\/p>\n<p>Reconocimientos internacionales<\/p>\n<p>El m\u00e9todo de purificaci\u00f3n de agua creado por Olgu\u00edn G\u00e1lvez fue reconocido por diversos premios, como el de RedEmprendia y el Nacional Juvenil del Agua, que otorga la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias y la Embajada de Suecia en M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo fue invitado a la semana mundial del agua que se realiza cada a\u00f1o en Estocolmo, Suecia la primera semana de septiembre. Esta es la segunda ocasi\u00f3n que asistir\u00e1n, la primera fue en 2013 y ahora competir\u00e1n por el Nobel del Agua.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>En el
