Sus virtudes ser\u00e1n expuestas en el n\u00famero de septiembre de\u00a0Nature\u00a0Materials. En el proyecto han colaborado investigadores espa\u00f1oles de Ikerbasque.<\/p>\n<p>El avance de la profesora Delia Milliron y su equipo es un nuevo proceso de baja temperatura para revestir el nuevo material inteligente en pl\u00e1stico. Hace as\u00ed que sea m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil y m\u00e1s barato de aplicar que los recubrimientos convencionales producidos directamente sobre el cristal en s\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo ha desarrollado un dispositivo electrocr\u00f3mico flexible que, con una peque\u00f1a carga el\u00e9ctrica (alrededor de 4 voltios), puede aclarar u oscurecer el material y controlar la transmisi\u00f3n de la radiaci\u00f3n del infrarrojo cercano que produce calor. Tales ventanas inteligentes representan un ahorro en las facturas de refrigeraci\u00f3n y calefacci\u00f3n para hogares y negocios.<\/p>\n<p>El proceso de baja temperatura genera un material con una sola nanoestructura, que dobla la eficiencia del proceso de coloraci\u00f3n en comparaci\u00f3n con el revestimiento producido por el proceso de alta temperatura convencional. Se puede conmutar entre incoloros y tintados m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente, usando menos energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>El nuevo material electrocr\u00f3mico, como su contraparte procesado a alta temperatura, tiene una estructura amorfa, lo que significa que los \u00e1tomos carecen de cualquier organizaci\u00f3n de largo alcance como se encontrar\u00eda en un cristal.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, el nuevo proceso obtiene una disposici\u00f3n de los \u00e1tomos en una estructura lineal, de tipo cadena. Mientras que los materiales amorfos convencionales que se producen a alta temperatura tienen una estructura m\u00e1s densa tridimensionalmente en condiciones de servidumbre, el nuevo material linealmente estructurado, hecho de \u00f3xido de niobio qu\u00edmicamente condensado, permite que los iones fluyan dentro y fuera con mayor libertad.
