As\u00ed lo describe la doctora a la publicaci\u00f3n\u00a0BioBioChile:<\/p>\n<p>Hemos observado que en estadios tempranos de resistencia a la insulina, NOX 2 se sobreexpresa al interior del m\u00fasculo, produciendo muchas especies oxidantes, como per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno. Esto a su vez, contribuye a que el mecanismo de la insulina no funcione adecuadamente. Por esta raz\u00f3n, nuestro foco es proponer terapias para detener este proceso.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s la cient\u00edfica revel\u00f3 que su equipo est\u00e1 trabajando en pruebas de una sustancia de nombre &#8216;apocinina&#8217; que parece inhibir los procesos de oxidaci\u00f3n que intervienen en el desarrollo de la resistencia como tal.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien este descubrimiento puede ser clave para la prevenci\u00f3n de la diabetes tipo 2 la investigadora reconoce que existe una relaci\u00f3n directa entre la resistencia a la insulina y la obesidad. Esto conllevar\u00eda enfocar los esfuerzos de salud p\u00fablica hacia campa\u00f1as de prevenci\u00f3n de la obesidad.<\/p>\n<p>La prevalencia mundial de diabetes (tipo 1 y tipo 2) fue del 9% a nivel mundial en mayores de 18 a\u00f1os tan solo en el 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La enzima de nombre NOX 2 estar\u00eda implicada en procesos de oxidaci\u00f3n que ayudar\u00edan a desarrollarla.
