{"id":4167,"date":"2017-02-08T16:41:02","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T22:41:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=4167"},"modified":"2017-02-09T11:24:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T17:24:06","slug":"identifican-genes-que-el-maiz-usa-para-adaptarse-a-cambios-climaticos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/biotecnologia\/identifican-genes-que-el-maiz-usa-para-adaptarse-a-cambios-climaticos\/","title":{"rendered":"Identifican genes que el ma\u00edz usa para adaptarse a cambios clim\u00e1ticos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un grupo de cinetif\u00edcios identific\u00f3 los genes del ma\u00edz que influyen en la adaptaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica de la planta, la temporada de crecimiento y la \u00e9poca de florecimiento, lo que puede servir para ayudar a los cultivos a adaptarse al cambio clim\u00e1tico, inform\u00f3 este lunes el Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Ma\u00edz y Trigo (Cimmyt).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;El estudio identific\u00f3 100 genes, entre los 40.000 que componen el genoma del ma\u00edz, que influyen en la adaptaci\u00f3n a la latitud, la altitud, la temporada de crecimiento y el punto en el que las plantas de ma\u00edz florecen en el campo&#8221;, detall\u00f3 un comunicado sobre este estudio publicado en la revista Nature Genetics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Seg\u00fan destac\u00f3 el escrito, se trata de un estudio &#8220;sin precedentes&#8221; en el que los cient\u00edficos lograron desbloquear &#8220;secretos evolutivos&#8221; de las variedades locales del ma\u00edz, revelando &#8220;m\u00e1s sobre la base gen\u00e9tica del tiempo de floraci\u00f3n y c\u00f3mo el ma\u00edz se adapta a ambientes variables&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;El descubrimiento abre oportunidades para explorar y utilizar la diversidad de razas terrestres para ayudar a los criadores a adaptar los cultivos al cambio clim\u00e1tico y otros desaf\u00edos emergentes&#8221;, agreg\u00f3 el escrito.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En este estudio, se analizaron m\u00e1s de 4.000 variedades aut\u00f3ctonas de ma\u00edz de las Am\u00e9ricas y se caracteriz\u00f3 su ADN, utilizando los \u00faltimos avances en gen\u00f3mica. Para tal fin, los investigadores de la iniciativa MasAgro Biodiversidad (MAB)\/Semillas de Descubrimiento (SeeD) desarrollaron &#8220;una estrategia experimental \u00fanica para estudiar y aprender m\u00e1s sobre los genes subyacentes a la adaptaci\u00f3n del ma\u00edz&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Durante el pr\u00f3ximo siglo, los patrones clim\u00e1ticos cada vez m\u00e1s err\u00e1ticos y los cambios ambientales proyectados como resultado del cambio clim\u00e1tico significan que los cultivos como el ma\u00edz necesitar\u00e1n adaptarse a un ritmo sin precedentes para mantener una producci\u00f3n estable a nivel mundial&#8221;, advirti\u00f3 el bolet\u00edn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para la investigadora del proyecto y experta en gen\u00e9tica molecular, Sarah Hearne, la investigaci\u00f3n &#8220;ofrece un modelo de c\u00f3mo podemos evaluar r\u00e1pidamente los recursos gen\u00e9ticos de una especie de cultivo muy variable como el ma\u00edz, e identificar, en variedades locales, los elementos del genoma del ma\u00edz que pueden beneficiar a los criadores y agricultores&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Asimismo, la coordinadora de mejoramiento de ma\u00edz en el Cimmyt, Martha Willcox, resalt\u00f3 que &#8220;este es el estudio m\u00e1s extenso, en t\u00e9rminos de diversidad, que se ha realizado sobre la floraci\u00f3n del ma\u00edz&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Cimmyt trabaja en varios pa\u00edses del mundo e investiga sobre el desarrollo y promoci\u00f3n de los sistemas de ma\u00edz y de trigo para hacerlos m\u00e1s productivos y sostenibles.
