El proyecto ha conseguido\u00a0un financiamiento millonario por parte, entre otros, de\u00a0Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) y Korea East-West Power Company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El objetivo del consorcio es poder tener este tipo de bater\u00edas lo antes posible en\u00a0el mercado. Los tres socios est\u00e1n convencidos de que los beneficios de esta\u00a0eco-bater\u00eda de agua salada la llevar\u00e1n a\u00a0competir con las bater\u00edas de ion \u2013\u00a0litio de alto rendimiento. Compar\u00e1ndolas son m\u00e1s baratas y m\u00e1s sostenibles,\u00a0y ser\u00e1n capaces de ofrecer un almacenamiento de energ\u00eda a gran escala de bajo costo. Adem\u00e1s, el uso de agua de mar puede tambi\u00e9n reducir el riesgo de incendio, ya que mantiene el fluido t\u00e9rmico en buenas condiciones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es qu\u00edmicamente similar a la bater\u00eda de ion \u2013 litio, ya que se acumula la energ\u00eda de la misma forma. Pero la bater\u00eda coreana, extrae los iones de sodio del agua de mar durante la carga y los almacena en el c\u00e1todo. Luego, durante la descarga el \u00e1nodo libera el sodio, que reacciona con el agua y el ox\u00edgeno para\u00a0formar hidr\u00f3xido de sodio. Seg\u00fan los investigadores, produce electricidad sin necesidad de cargas auxiliares o una fuente de alimentaci\u00f3n externa, por lo tanto, pueden ser usadas\u00a0a escala residencial e industrial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El gran problema de la bater\u00eda es que tiene una potencia el\u00e9ctrica de salida bastante baja. La bater\u00eda puede funcionar eficientemente m\u00e1s de 100 veces con una tensi\u00f3n de descarga media de alrededor de 2,7 voltios. Pero puede llegar a 3.6-4.0 voltios. Para evitar este problema, el equipo agilizar\u00e1 y estandarizar\u00e1 la geometr\u00eda de la celda electroqu\u00edmica. El siguiente paso ser\u00e1 crear un prototipo\u00a0de 10 Wh en 2018,\u00a0cantidad promedio de energ\u00eda que necesita una familia de cuatro personas durante un d\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p
