la Universidad de Murcia han desarrollado una nueva fibra \u00f3ptica implantable y biodegradable a partir de la hijuela de la seda.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEsto abre el campo a diversas aplicaciones, tales como la estimulaci\u00f3n del crecimiento celular, la aceleraci\u00f3n de la cicatrizaci\u00f3n de suturas y la liberaci\u00f3n de analg\u00e9sicos y f\u00e1rmacos\u201d, seg\u00fan fuentes oficiales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El desarrollo ha sido objeto de una patente conjunta de las dos instituciones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fibra biodegradable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La hijuela es una fibra que se obtiene mediante la acidificaci\u00f3n y el estiramiento de la gl\u00e1ndula que contiene la seda del gusano de la seda justo antes de la formaci\u00f3n del capullo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El resultado es una fibra de 50 cent\u00edmetros de largo y 0.5 mil\u00edmetros de grosor que fue ampliamente utilizada en el pasado como hilo de sutura y como hilo de pesca.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La hijuela se obten\u00eda \u00fanicamente en Murcia y fue el origen de una importante industria en la huerta, hasta que la aparici\u00f3n del nylon acab\u00f3 con la misma y la t\u00e9cnica de fabricaci\u00f3n se perdi\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El grupo de Biotecnolog\u00eda del IMIDA, liderado por el doctor Jos\u00e9 Luis Cenis, ha recuperado y mejorado la t\u00e9cnica de fabricaci\u00f3n de la hijuela.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Propiedades de la hijuela<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En colaboraci\u00f3n con los doctores Aurelio Arenas, Marta Rojo y Juan Mu\u00f1oz, del Departamento de Electromagnetismo y Electr\u00f3nica de la Universidad de Murcia, han comprobado que cuando la hijuela es iluminada por un extremo con luz l\u00e1ser, es capaz de emitir lateralmente luz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La citada luz l\u00e1ser tiene una variedad de efectos beneficiosos en el crecimiento de las c\u00e9lulas, lo que ha llevado al desarrollo de un conjunto de terapias basadas en la aplicaci\u00f3n de la luz l\u00e1ser en tejidos humanos, tales como la terapia fotodin\u00e1mica (basada en la activaci\u00f3n mediante la acci\u00f3n de la luz de una mol\u00e9cula fotosensible que produce toxicidad en c\u00e9lulas tumorales) y la optogen\u00e9tica (que consiste en actuar mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de luz sobre grupos espec\u00edficos de neuronas).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sin embargo, para la aplicaci\u00f3n en estos tejidos se hace necesario disponer de nuevas fibras \u00f3pticas, biocompatibles y biodegradables, algo que hace posible esta nueva fibra de la hijuela.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fuente:\u00a0<strong><a
