El nuevo an\u00e1lisis permitir\u00eda un diagn\u00f3stico temprano y evitar\u00eda as\u00ed el uso de t\u00e9cnicas invasivas que requieren cirug\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Una nueva prueba desarrollada por bioingenieros de la Universidad de California en San Diego (EU) ayuda a localizar en qu\u00e9 parte del cuerpo est\u00e1 creciendo el tumor. Se trata de un an\u00e1lisis de sangre que detecta el c\u00e1ncer de manera precoz sin necesidad de t\u00e9cnicas invasivas. Los resultados se publican hoy en la revista Nature Genetics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cuando un tumor comienza a extenderse por una parte del cuerpo compite con las c\u00e9lulas normales por los nutrientes y el espacio, mat\u00e1ndolas en el proceso. El ADN de estas c\u00e9lulas moribundas acaba en el torrente sangu\u00edneo y se pueden usar para descubrir el tejido afectado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores descubrieron una nueva pista en la sangre que pod\u00eda ayudar a detectar las c\u00e9lulas tumorales e identificar d\u00f3nde se est\u00e1n desarrollando. El m\u00e9todo de la universidad estadounidense encontr\u00f3 una firma de ADN concreta: los haplotipos de metilaci\u00f3n CpG dentro de las mol\u00e9culas de ADN.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHicimos el descubrimiento por accidente. Busc\u00e1bamos c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas para averiguar su origen, pero vimos tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1ales de otras c\u00e9lulas. Nos dimos cuenda de que si integr\u00e1bamos los dos conjuntos de se\u00f1ales pod\u00edamos determinar la presencia o ausencia del tumor y d\u00f3nde estaba creciendo\u201d, explica Kun Zhang, profesor en la Escuela de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de California San Diego, y autor principal del trabajo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300; text-align: justify;\"><b><strong>Una base de datos de diferentes tejidos<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300; text-align: justify;\">Para poner en pr\u00e1ctica el m\u00e9todo, los investigadores crearon una base de datos con todos los patrones de metilaci\u00f3n CpG de tejidos como el h\u00edgado, intestino, colon, pulmones, cerebro, ri\u00f1\u00f3n, bazo p\u00e1ncreas o sangre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300; text-align: justify;\">El grupo tambi\u00e9n analiz\u00f3 muestras tumorales y de la sangre de pacientes enfermos del Centro de C\u00e1ncer Moores de la Universidad de California en San Diego, para tener identificados una serie de marcadores gen\u00e9ticos espec\u00edficos de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300; text-align: justify;\">Analizaron las muestras de sangre de individuos con y sin tumores buscando se\u00f1ales de los marcadores cancer\u00edgenos y de los patrones de metilaci\u00f3n de los tejidos. La prueba funciona como un proceso de autenticaci\u00f3n dual. Se necesita la combinaci\u00f3n de ambas se\u00f1ales para obtener una respuesta positiva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 300; text-align: justify;\">Aun as\u00ed, el equipo es cauto. \u201cEsto no es m\u00e1s que una prueba de concepto.
