El sistema tambi\u00e9n supera limitaciones clave de los m\u00e9todos convencionales de separaci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica, como las fluctuaciones de acidez y las p\u00e9rdidas de rendimiento que pueden suceder como resultado de reacciones qu\u00edmicas contrapuestas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las actuales t\u00e9cnicas para limpiar el agua de tales agentes contaminantes muy diluidos incluyen el filtrado por membrana, que es caro y tiene una eficacia modesta cuando las concentraciones son bajas; y la electrodi\u00e1lisis y la desionizaci\u00f3n capacitiva, que a menudo requiere voltajes altos que tienden a producir reacciones qu\u00edmicas secundarias. Estos procesos tambi\u00e9n tienen otras limitaciones y riesgos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/img_43687.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5575 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/img_43687.jpg\" alt=\"img_43687\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el nuevo sistema, el agua fluye entre superficies tratadas qu\u00edmicamente, o \u201cfuncionalizadas\u201d, que sirven como electrodos positivo y negativo. Estas superficies de electrodo est\u00e1n recubiertas con lo que se conoce como materiales faradaicos, que pueden experimentar reacciones para cargarse positiva o negativamente. Estos grupos activos pueden ser ajustados para enlazarse fuertemente a un tipo espec\u00edfico de mol\u00e9cula potencialmente contaminante, como el equipo ha demostrado usando ibuprofeno y varios pesticidas. Los investigadores constataron que este proceso puede retirar de forma efectiva tales mol\u00e9culas incluso en concentraciones del orden de partes por mill\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
